They always gave off a creepy vibe to me.

For people who are supposed to be moral, they sure did talk about sex in front of their kids a lot.

Ever seen the youtube video of the parents at the golf course? One of the daughters & her fiance were tagging along. The parents were making a scene of “look at what we can do because we’re married” in front of the kids.

JimBob kissed Michelle and asked, “Did that turn you on?” Then he got behind her and started grinding his pelvis into her butt. In front of his teenaged daughter and her fiance.

Yeah. Those good, wholesome Duggars.

Not familiar with that, but it goes to show that the sexual repression is often a cover for moral depravity.

“Because God’s Word teaches us that. I guess you don’t believe in the redemptive power of Christ. He can forgive and transform anyone. You either believe that, or stick with man’s (Satan’s) yardstick. Personally, I choose a God’s plan.”

First, I was referring specifically to the part about Josh Duggar having changed. Whatever your beliefs about the redemptive power of Christ generally, we have no idea whether Josh Duggar has himself changed.

In any event, I’m Jewish, so no, I do not believe in the redemptive power of Christ.

Would there even be a story if he had gone after his brothers instead of a sister?

it is my understanding the girl he molested that was not a family member was the one to come to the parents first

According to the police report, IF I'm reading it correctly - it's difficult to understand with all the redacted portions - the girl who wasn't a family member didn't know what happened until his parents told her parents and made their son confess:

Moore has been busy apologizing for slavery and race relations 20 years after the SBC issued a formal resolution. He hosting racial reconciliation conferences complete with Klan references.

“Committed Christian my a**. He’s a guy who got caught and is hiding behind God.”

Am I recalling correctly that you are, or used to be, a prosecutor? If so, I’m curious - how often did you see things like this? By that, I mean people getting caught in some misdeed, and running to/hiding behind religion to try to get out of it.

This same author recently wrote a screed questioning B.B. King’s faith because he fathered children with different women: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3291471/posts

Yes. Next question?

I think they’ve been messed up for a long time. A big part of their problem is that they’ve been looking to a very flawed man/cult leader for redemption and morality.

Guess this “ 6. There are consequences to our actions, but with God, our worst mistakes can become stepping stones to spiritual growth.” doesn’t apply to BB King.

I just have a hard time taking a grown man seriously who goes by Jim Bob.

Are you serious? I never heard about that.

I saw them several years ago at a local church and was very impressed. I do think it is weird to have so many kids, though. Like they were trying to prove something. Reminds me of a puppy mill. Still, they seemed like such a fine Christian family and good role models. Now - not so much.

Yeah, but he can’t help what his name is. LOL.

I just hope that those who see the lifestyle of the Duggars as some sort of Christian ideal realize that it is nothing more than a system for the subjugation and control of women. It’s really not that different than Sharia, just slightly more civilized.

You know, the size of their family is something I’ve never had a problem with. Big families are great, if the people having them can support them.

The creep factor lay elsewhere.

I honestly don’t know enough about them to compare their beliefs to sharia but I think that is a stretch.

The Bible does teach the man is the head of the household and that women should dress modestly and that children should honor their parents. I have no problem with those teachings.

I’m without you. I used to think it was cute that whenever my daughter watched their show she would wear skirts and dresses for the following few days. I thought it was a wholesome influence.

With their own admission about how they handled the situation now known, so very surprised at how many voices are claiming that as Christians, we are forgiven and none of us want sins from our teen years made public.

A blogger I deeply respect framed it in a parental rights ideology. A parent knows better than any counselor or LSW what their son would need to heal from this. Over a dozen comments agreeing that as as Christians we are not to judge fellow Christians.

This has left me pondering my own sinful heart and attitudes toward fellow believers. I still don’t see a contrite and humble spirit of repentance in him, but only God knows the heart.
