Those “horrible” 1911A1s you had trouble with function perfectly and always have. Combat isn’t the pistol range, it’s muddy, dirty, wet, and nasty and the stock government .45 always worked and killed reliability.
You use pistols at knife ranges. Nobody cares if they group well at 50 yards.

Why is that? They were exact 1911A1 clones and fully interchangeable with the same aftermarket upgrades that a Colt would use. I shot IPSC matches for 2 years with that Norinco (after some mods, of course, but they were the same mods that the Colt guys would put in their guns).
