Jeb Bush rises in defense of Patriot Act

Likely Republican presidential contenders Jeb Bush and Chris Christie on Friday heartily endorsed the Patriot Act and the permission it gives the government to collect phone records in bulk, mocking those who deride the intelligence overhaul passed after the Sept. 11 attacks as an encroachment on civil liberties.

“There is ample evidence that the Patriot Act has been a tool to keep us safe, ample evidence,” Bush said at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. “There is no evidence of anyone’s civil liberties being violated because of it.”

Jeb Bush can take his Patriot Act and his non-English speaking wife and deport themselves back to Mexico.

The Patriot Act is for a nation on it’s knees, not a nation rising. It’s about fear.

No Jeb! End domestic spying on loyal Americans and repatriate the Enrmy Within, all of Obama’s anti-American Moslems back to their own 57 countries. We Americans do not agree to give up our civil liberties just so enemies can be moved into our cities and villages

Also take note that the USA PATRIOT Act has a section titled “Protecting the Northern Border” but not a similar section with regards to protecting the southern border.

The Patriot Act should have named the Totalitarian Act.

There is zero evidence Patriot Act has solved anything but, many examples of PA being used against Americans...

One problem with the unpatriot act is that is absolves police from developing or defining “reasonable cause”. Defining reasonable cause could become politically risky and establishment types don’t understand risk taking.

Take Mosques I’m aware of in Chicago’s suburbs. Some actively preach against terrorism. Some actively preach in favor of supporting terrorists....with prayers and money even if not called to be one. And some Mosques are wffling in between.

I suggest that there is reasonable cause to get a warrant for anyone who frequently attends or has allegiance to the mosques that support terrorists.

If Eric Rudolph starts a church that advocates murdering abortion doctors, there is reasonable cause to get a warrant for anyone who frequently attends or has allegiance to that advocacy.

If someone advocates violence during a protest in Ferguson or Baltimore or Cleveland there is reasonable cause to get a warrant.

What we should be debating is when is it “reasonable cause” and when is it not reasonable cause. The Patriot Act gives the spineless a way to avoid that uncomfortable debate.

There’s no evidence that Jebster understands what liberty is.

He certainly does not understand what the rule of law is.

Will Jeb ever rise in defense of American citizens?

Not likely, he’s more concerned about fraudulently documented foreigners.

Also, “there’s not a shred of evidence the NSA has violated any Americans’ civil liberties” Jedediah Hitler is also quoted recently as saying.

Is the “Patriot Act” being used to keep out Jeb’s relatives in his preferred land of Mexico?

Violence and fear in the Southwest is entirely due to them.

Can he point to an example where the government used these totalitarian “tools” to tear down an alien smuggling operation, or a drug running Mexican mafia crime family?

No. They won’t do that. Those are the “New Americans” that Jeb and his family want to install in our government.

The Patriot Act will only be used against the Americans for resisting this ongoing act of Treason against our polity.

The Federal Government cannot point to a single arrest & conviction, or a single terrorist act prevented as a result of the Patriot Act.

Yet they want to continue it and continue collecting all the metadata that they can find on each and every one of us.

F that.

The Patriot Act needs a stake driven through its heart, never to live again.

“There is no evidence of anyone’s civil liberties being violated because of it.”

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Seems like it should be a clear extension that emails, cloud-stored data, smartphone records are off-limits to the government without a specific warrant.
