At the beginning of the sermon on my first Sunday back in a pew the pastor said “we here at the Antioch Church (not the real name of the church) believe the Bible is the true, inerrant word of God.” That struck me as odd. Modern physics, anthropology, archeology and DNA mapping, etc. make it clear that portions of the Bible are not true.

Yes! And, the consequences of a Godless society are emerging. The church cannot stand when blended with the popular trends of the times. The basic truth of the Bible, the 10 Commandments, for example, were written for all men and women of all time. We need self control in respect to all of our selfishness and passions and the Bible teaches us how to do that. Sin kills the individual sinner first, but it is contagious in that it ultimately spreads to the rest of society where the result is constant war, chaos and death. Sometimes I wonder whether sexuality and all it involves..adultery, fornication, lust, pedophilia, rape, sexual perversions, bestiality, disease, abuse, jealousy, envy, human trafficking, uncared for children, murder and all kinds of hedonism..are behind nearly all what humans, as a whole suffer in life. We have never seen these things as rampant as they are today and sexual lust to this extent is never satisfied no matter how much freedom those without restraint practice. I wonder how it will all end here on earth. We know how it is going to end in eternity.
If Marxism was biblical why is there a commandment against coveting that which belongs to someone else (a sin separate from stealing from someone else) and not a commandment prohibiting attaining wealth and personal property?

To think that God is bound by the laws of physics is incredibly stupid.
The liberal academic believes there is no absolute truth, only relative truth. This they believe absolutely.
The author should follow his argument to its rational conclusion.
1. The Bible is true.
2. Modern science contradict the Bible.
3. ERGO, Modern Science is not true.

He is citing from Old Testament law on slavery and it does NOT condone slavery, it only mentions that it occurred. In the book of Philemon, we see a case of the slave Philemon who ran away. Paul asks his owner to take him back, but as a brother and to treat him properly. The Bible does not condone slavery in the New Testament, but does not advocate violent upheavals to overturn society. It does advocate trying to change peoples' hearts to change the way things are going. It does say in the New Testament to be in submission to masters (bosses) whether reasonable or unreasonable and God will take care of the rest. Len Anthony's statement is a total misrepresentation of what is taught in the Bible and the transition from the Old Law (Old Testament) to the New Law (New Testament).
It does say in the New Testament that children are to be obedient to their parents and show respect. It does say that they should do that so that one "...may live long upon the face of the earth." Lots of young people who have violated laws because they never learned obedience or respect for authority at home are dying these days, but not by stoning. In the Old Testament, both disrespectful children and adulterers were stoned, but not under the New Law. Jesus himself rescued the woman caught in adultery (what does it tell you about the Jews who were spying on her in her weakness and watching to catch her "...in the very act...." so they could drag her to Jesus?) and wrote in the sand (probably all of the sins the stoners were involved with) and ran off her accusers. He DID tell her to go and SIN NO MORE.
It does say women are to be submissive to their husbands AND it says husbands are to give themselves up for their wives. It does say women are to have their heads covered while at worship and I have gotten into debates with members of the church over that issue. It does say to look on a woman with LUST for her is the same has committing the act, so one must refrain from doing that (good luck with that these days, but it does say it). It also clearly states that divorcing someone for a cause OTHER than infidelity does NOT give a person the right to remarry, so he's right about that one.
He does have a point about the whole Bible being followed like it is taught and that is not being done. The Bible specifically condemns homosexuality and it also forbids a lot of other practices going on and everyone involved is going to be accountable to God.
What always makes me shake my head is why the Episcopal Church and/or the MCC don’t have a combined membership of over 1 billion by now. If they are so good and so liberal, makes me wonder why people don’t just join them in the massive crowds. it’s a practical option. But then again being atheist or agnostic is probably way easier...
So I’m suppose to read this pablum from a guy who admits he left the church 40 years ago...and take it as truth...

What is scary is that animals doing it also justifies killing and eating your own babies, or cannibalism, or murder. It’s very vague and absurd reasoning.

I mean, most of the time the word of God is pretty right on...
Though there is a truism that if something in the bible starts to point at some flaw in our life....we all of us want so desperately to some how think that that part of the Bible might be a little wrong, or perhaps our interpretation is flawed(”I mean wasn’t scripture not supposed to be of private interpretation anyway...so why am I feeling guilty?”).
“Yeah, okay..ya got me, I’ll just come along quietly Lord, having been “apprehended of Christ”(Philippians 3:12Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.)
However the agenda here is to change YOUR Church so that it conforms to THEIR worldview. If they can tell the Church that some little detail in the Bible is wrong, then they can say the same about any other detail. That’s why they come into your space, into your business with their demands. Wouldn’t it be logical for homos to buy flowers and cakes from homo florists and bakers? But that wouldn’t allow them to force others to bend to their will.
They demand acceptance of their lifestyle but they’re still not at peace with themselves even if they gain the acceptance of others. There is a moral law written within our hearts. Regardless of what they say or demand, they cannot overcome the guilt.

Wow. I sure am glad after 40 years living away from God and ignoring His Word that Dr. Len Anthony (PhD., Biblical Studies) decided to show up and instruct us on the finer points of it, especially on homosexuality, which I am sure Dr. Len has a lot of personal expertise in.
The past four decades have been quite difficult trying vainly to figure out all that complicated and opaque Scripture without Pastor Len's august advice and guidance. Church just hasn't been the same lately without his wise, scholarly, Biblical input. It is fortunate for all of us churchy people Dr. Len is back with us and he returned with the Holy Spirit in tow so he can give our somewhat thick and stump-toothed pastors and our own uncomprehending selves the insight we desperately need especially as the Holy Spirit has been so glaringly absent ever since Pastor Len left and we all got off wandering on the wrong track.
Thanks Dr. Len! We owe a great debt of gratitude to you, sir. Please instruct us some more and especially on homosexuality as the Bible has been really vague on the subject! I mean, we know what it says but what does it really mean? Help us out here, please!
That’s because the NCC is a liberal leftist group. Plenty of orthodox Christians believe that the Bible is inerrant including me and my church. The NCC is following the broad road to hell.
