Wonder how hard it is to insert a CO2 line and make a tunnel inhabitable? Well, they claim to be providing electricity to the tunnels 24/7 with underground generators. It seems to me that CO might be the better choice. Just a bit of tinkering with the exhaust system and you don't even need to bring the gas in as it's already there...
