Atheist group: Court martial USAF general for sharing faith

An anti-Christian zealot is calling for the court martial of an Air Force general for publicly giving his Christian testimony while in uniform. In a speech at the National Day of Prayer Task Force event earlier this month, Major General Craig Olson credited God for his accomplishments in the military, and referred to himself as a "redeemed believer in Christ."

But the Air Force Times reports that Mikey Weinstein, president of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, has taken issue with Olsen's remarks. Weinstein has called for him to be severely punished.

“[Major General Craig Olson must be court martialed] aggressively and very visibly brought to justice for his unforgivable crimes and transgressions," Weinstein proclaimed.

Weinstein sent a letter to the Air Force Chief of Staff, accusing Olsen of violating rules within the Air Force, which he claims prohibits airmen from endorsing a particular faith or belief.

Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty Executive Director Ron Crews says Weinstein's charges are completely unfounded.

"This Air Force officer major general has every right to speak about his faith,” Crews asserts.

Crews contends that Olson was not proselytizing — only expressing his gratitude for how God has blessed and guided him throughout his military career.

“He was not ordering anybody to believe the way he believes,” Crews continued. “He is saying this is what Jesus Christ has done for me in my life."

Crews doesn't believe Weinstein's accusations will stick.

"This Air Force officer is protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution, so Mr. Weinstein is totally off base here in charging that this Air Force officer ought to be court martialed,” Crews explained. “[There is] no way that is going to happen."

Crews has sent a letter to the Air Force Chief of Chaplains in support of General Olson.

When U.S. servicemen cannot mention their faith in God, the country is already lost!

Tell them to take their complaint and file it in the paper shredder.

I wonder how much he pays himself to be a hate-mongering bigot?

Putting aside the question of who is technically correct, Weinstein has the tone of a man who is barely wearing the mask of sanity.

I can’t believe he used the term unforgivable crimes. Really, this is a crime that can never be forgiven? This guy has a screw loose.

“Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend.

Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call upon Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies and establish Thy justice among men and nations.”-General George Patton

What people who are saying "this will never happen" need to realize is that persecution of our Christians in uniform not only is happening, it has already happened.

http://www.youngcons.com/christian-airman-punished-for-opposing-gay-marriage-liberty-institute-files-formal-complaint/

A SMSgt with 19 years in the Air Force was persecuted, punished, and relieved of his position for not applauding and affirming the sin of homosexuality ("gay marriage") in front of his overweight lesbian supervisor (Maj Elisa Valenzuela).

All SMSgt did was say "I cannot answer your question" when she repeatedly berated him to bark like a trained seal and tell her that "gay marriage" was wonderful. Obama and Hagel had moved with lightening speed after the Supreme Court struck down DOMA and pushed the issue back to the states. Within minutes, Hagel and Obama authorized hundreds of millions of dollars for housing, benefits, and medical insurance for "gay spouses."

Monk's First Amendment rights were violated, as well as stated rights granted under Air Force and DoD regulation that affirmed his right to his religious views.

Good one!

I also have a copy of the New Testament and Psalms that was issued to the servicemen during WWII.

How much complaining about -that- was seen back then?

IMHO, America is already circling the drain. America is not mentioned in Bible Prophecy and with the current government officials running the show, from what I can see, it’s all down hill.

Being only ‘anti-Mikie’ rather than being “anti-Jewish religion and those who follow it” does not, in my mind, make you an anti-Semite.

My opinion is that years ago, some arrogant hypocritical jerks who called themselves “Christians” were cruel to Mikey, and it basically scarred him for life.
