Where's the coverage of heroes who stop mass killings?
Fox News ^ | May 22, 2015 | John R. Lott Jr.

Heroic citizens stopping someone from killing a large number of people don’t seem to be considered news worthy. Don’t people want to read about a brave soul risking his life by running towards the sound of gunfire while others run away? Yet, such stories never get national news coverage by the national mainstream media.

While accidental gunshots get national coverage, few people have any idea how often concealed handgun permit holders stopping mass killings.

The lack of news coverage allows left wing media outlets, such as Mother Jones which should know better, to falsely claim: "In not a single case was [a mass public shooting] stopped by a civilian using a gun."

The truth is that the more successful these heroes are in preventing people from getting killed, the less media coverage they receive, but the lack of fatalities doesn’t explain the lack of news coverage. And if the heroes hadn’t been there, the attacks would have been successful and the national mainstream media would have been talking about the attack for days.

Let’s look at some of the recent cases that should have gotten some national attention. . . . .

The problem is that if you stop a mass shooting, how do you know there would have been a mass shooting had you not stopped it?

Awfully hard to prove a negative.

If you actually read the cases provided and also if you look at the links for documentation, you will see that they don’t pick cases whenever a shooting has been stopped. These cases involve instances where the police or other experts or the attackers themselves have said that there would very likely have been a much higher body count if the permit holder hadn’t been there to help.

Did you see the black guy who had a white guy try to car jack him in Atlanta? The black guy had a gun and held the dude until the cops got there. The cop shook his hand.

He told the guy “You picked the wrong m f to rob today.”

Armed lady security guard stopped a mass murder at New Life Church in Colorado Springs where I’ve been to many graduations and other events. Shot him dead.

That does not support the anti-gun agenda.

No, the problem is rampant social engineering perpetrated by effete ideologues who never wander beyond the glass walls of their echo chambers.

The trouble is, not enough people were killed for it to become a mass shooting. Put another way, mass shootings don’t tend to take place where armed civilians are allowed to be.

If you work to stop evil you become a target of evil.

Heroes? The msm doesn't like heroes. The msm prefers to march deviants, liars, and other such ilk to the front of everyone's face. The only time the msm would bring up a hero is to tear them down.

Don't look to the msm to show us heroes.

The MSM is generally evil and wicked, they fit this description perfectly:

Romans 1:.. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Proverbs 6:16-19 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

Those armed citizens are, de facto, part of the militia.

Police are expensive and only becoming more so due to labor contracts with higher pay and retirement. I can see the day coming when we have half as many cops on the streets than our grandparents saw.

The job of defending the public will fall more and more upon the militia. And that is us, folks.

You are sitting in a restaurant and a guy/girl comes in swinging a AK-47 and yelling Ally Ackbar!

Use your judgment.

Your example is easy, but there are other more profound ones I was thinking of.

You bust a couple of Saudi students who have overstayed their visas and were trying to find flight schools that would teach them to fly an airliner, but wasn't interested in landings.

You bust a kid from Connecticut who tried to break into his mother's gun safe.

You bust a couple of kids in Boston who happen to have pressure cookers in their bedrooms.

You stopped three mass murders, but because you stopped them you never know how horrific the tragedies would have been.

Why would be busting anybody? You can only react to an active threat. Only hindsight is 20/20.
