The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Klamath Falls Field office of the Lakeview District will be hosting an open house to learn about the Draft Resource Management Plan (RMP)/Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Western Oregon.

The open house meeting will be held the evening of May 26, 2015, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Shilo Inn Suites Hotel located at 2500 Almond Street, Klamath Falls, Oregon. BLM employees will be on hand to answer questions, provide information and listen to concerns. There will also be a demonstration on how to use the interactive maps and other online resources in order to make comments.

The Draft RMP/EIS was released April 24, 2015, and members of the public have 90 days to provide written comments through the internet, email, or postal mail. This is one of a series of open house meetings and workshops taking place in Western Oregon to help encourage public participation in the planning process.

The Draft RMP/EIS explains why the BLM is proposing a plan revision and presents a full spectrum of different management alternatives for providing a sustained yield of timber, contributing to the recovery of threatened and endangered species, providing clean water, restoring fire adapted ecosystems, and providing for recreation opportunities on public lands. It includes an analysis of the environmental effects of the alternatives.

If formally designated, the BLM would close all or part of the following potential ACECs to off-highway vehicle use:

Beautiful country. Been there for a vacation. What’s the story here? I would hope this doesn’t involve water for So Cal... If they want water they should leave the desert. I suggest DC..

Got to set up lands for the future Nomenklatura. I remember Suvorov talking of exclusive zones in the Soviet Union where generals lived, all surrounded by endless metal walls, within which fairy tale like beautiful mantions and gardens would be kept... All from public eye.
