Strange wave pattern. Look at the green tracing. Almost like an explosion?

Having never bought a new car in my 68 years I've had a lot of cars that would be cool if I had them today. I think the Caliente was made in Canada.

Nice, but that 30 cents a gallon gas allowed you to drive it.

Back in the 80’s when I was working in the East bay I used to call up the Berkeley Seismo lab automated recording that used to list the EQ that have occurred in the Western US. One day they listed a 4+ event as an “unscheduled nuclear event” in the Nevada test range. WTF? I had heard others listed as nuclear tests but never “unscheduled”. I always figured someone screwed up but could never confirm it.

Thanks for the video refresh. I thought that that was one of the funkiest movies I ever saw as a kid. The effects definitely weren’t amazing by any stretch.

Almost like an explosion.

Except for all the aftershocks over several hours. I would negate any idea of an explosion that was man made. However, magma is definitely under the ground there as evidenced by all the hot springs in the region. A sudden movement of magma perhaps?

30 cents in 1965 dollars is pretty much 2.70 in today’s money. Enjoy your car. They’re not as enjoyable once your dead.

That’s what I was thinking. And since his little accident happened on New Year’s Eve, there’s no way that heavy drinking was involved. (The pictures of him in April still showed heavy bruising. That’s a real medical concern in itself.)

I can look back on my cars and appreciate the beauty, but cars to me have always been a means of transportation. I appreciate reliability above all things. Going out to a car in the middle of winter and having it start right up is a wonder to behold. A lot of my 50's, 60's and 70's cars, though physically desirable, were less than that in performance.

“Except for all the aftershocks over several hours.”

That is if those are true aftershocks rather than magma movement a/o tremors that were induced by a rather large possibly artificial initial event that took place in already seismically active area. There doesn't seem to be the characteristic P & S wave tracings of a common EQ. Its just one big bang that started it all.

How many miles is that? Just being sarcastic! Do we not still travel in miles; miles per hour?
