I suspect that means they can track (and probably retrace) anyone they want to now.

He should be investigated by his bar association given a hearing, the tape played, and then he should be disbarred by his state bar association.

They probably tortured the kid to extract information as to the location of any valuables on the premises. If there weren’t any, it went harder for the kid. Denying the existence of something the perp is convinced must be present will only cause them to redouble their efforts to have you disclose the location.
