In his first public appearance since Tuesday night's election, presumptive Republican gubernatorial nominee Matt Bevin got a glimpse of the trouble he might have uniting his party in coming months.
Bevin wrapped up his remarks Thursday afternoon to the Women Republicans of Central Kentucky by talking about how he has even heard from several Democrats who told him they will work for his campaign. Then he opened it up to questions.
Patrick Moores of Lexington stood in Sal's Chophouse and complimented Bevin on his likely victory and then asked Bevin the question that many Republicans have asked about him for a year.
"I've had several friends tell me yesterday, on the Republican side, that they're very concerned about even voting for you," Moores said. "And one of the things that sticks in their craw still is your not supporting McConnell after the primary last year, coming out actively in support of him, and they're saying 'we're not going to support him (Bevin).'"
Moores, who supported Hal Heiner in the primary, told Bevin that his "mind was greatly changed" by Bevin's speech on election night.
"But my concern is, have you got a plan to bring these Republicans back?" Moores asked.

But when the shoe is on the other foot, it's a far different story.
And we see it right here every day. No need to look to the state or national stage. It’s in our own yard.
I’m sure Mitch and Rue Paul will campaign for the RAT nominee.
Both would rather have a corrupt rat, than an honest conservative.
McConnell and Obama can’t get 84 votes.
“I found out what party loyalty means. It means the conservatives have to support the liberals, but never the other way around.” — Sen. Richard Schweiker (”R”-Pa.), returning from the 1976 Republican National Convention in Kansas City (at which he had supported Ronald Reagan.)
I actually don’t think this is going to be a problem...could be wrong, but I don’t think so. If you read closely the Lexington Herald-Leader is using quotes from people back when the campaign just began, not post election. They are recycling negative comments. As the campaign progressed the impression of Bevin was changing. It happened with me - and I’m far from the only one. My reaction to his candidacy was initially similar - “oh great...not this clown again.” Then, several months later, guess who I had decided to vote for? Matt Bevin. Much better focused campaign message and strategy, and indications of a much improved political IQ, and given how personal the campaign got to be between Heiner and Comer, he was the best choice for bringing the party together after the primary.
The Democrat nominee is Jack Conway, the same nominee from the 2010 Senate race (and 2002 House race that had some national attention). He has lost every election where he has had serious opposition - unfortunately had weak opposition in both of his Attorney General races. He will not have such a cakewalk for this race. Paul likely has a grudge against Conway for the ridiculous “Aqua Buddha” commercials that were ran in the 2010 race.
Bingo!
Those idiots had their chance in the Primaries to get rid of him. Don’t come whining to us now.
So the Mitch puppets listened to Bevin and sat out 2014 because Bevin didn’t explicitly endorse McConnell.
Bevin attacked Grimes and asked what her views on amnesty and abortion are. Then Rove ran ads against Grimes on amnesty.
I have a couple..
What about his connections to Red China..(Gee every time there's a question about his in-laws he starts screaming "RACISM!" )

In 1999, McConnell invited Li Zhaoxing, the Chinese ambassador to the U.S., to speak at the McConnell Center for Political Leadership at the University of Louisville . . . Harry Wu, who spent about 20 years in Chinese prisons as a political dissident, said McConnell's friendship with Beijing is motivated by one thing. "No mystery. It's the money," said Wu, a fellow at the Hoover Institution, a conservative think tank.
Second quesion.. What's in his FBI files that makes him a slave to Obama?
so if the GOPe doesn’t support Bevin then they will have no problem with Conservatives not suportting GOPe politicians...
So is this a done deal? What about that re-canvassing I was hearing about?
So true... and if the moderates/liberals don’t want to vote for a conservative, we should tell them to GTFO...
And we see it right here every day.
Think of it as “holding feet to the fire”
Because thats what your lesser evil crew promised right? Feet would be held to the fire? Suck it up buttercup. When you find one incorrect thing I post, please, do share.
Until then, enjoy what you promised.
Cruz terrifies you.
Yea thats why I support him against your lesser evil crew and have for months.
So when will you all be stabbing him in the back as the crew did with Palin?
The “lessor evil” preachers promised great changes if we just voted for
the lessor evil.
Nothing has changed. Zip. Nada.
Which is why their ‘support’ of Cruz is suspect.
