Greeley car dealership owner arrested on suspicion of soliciting for child prostitution
A Greeley car dealership owner was arrested last week on suspicion of having sex with an underage girl during a larger investigation into child sex trafficking by the Rocky Mountain Innocence Lost Task Force.
Fares Al Rashed, 36, who lives in the 1400 block of 60th Avenue and owns Alrashed Auto Sales at 1201 8th Ave., in Greeley, is charged in Weld District Court with one count each of soliciting for child prostitution, pandering of a child, patronizing a child prostitute and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, all felonies.
The charges stem from several incidents that occurred between October 2012 and December 2015, including one occasion in 2014 when authorities say Al Rashed and a friend had sex with an underage Platteville girl at his Greeley apartment. The girl, whose name is not being released because she is a minor, was under the control of Paul Burman, 31, an alleged pimp who goes by the name of “Haylo,” according to court records
Burman and the girl met on Facebook in November or December of 2013. After a few months of messaging each other online, the two agreed to meet in person in February 2014.
During that first “date,” Burman picked up the girl at her home in Platteville and drove her to a secluded location in Greeley where they had sex in his black BMW, records stated. During a later occasion, the girl borrowed her mother’s vehicle to meet Burman at an undisclosed location in Greeley, but quickly left after feeling uncomfortable. She ended up getting a $240 speeding ticket in Evans because she thought Burman was following her home, record stated.
The girl reached out to Burman the next day because she didn’t know how to pay for the ticket. Burman offered to help her by getting her into prostitution. Al Rashed and his friend were the girl’s first clients, records stated.
Burman and Al Rashed’s relationship isn’t clear from Al Rashed’s arrest affidavit, which wasn’t filed in its entirety to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, but it appears Al Rashed sold Burman his BMW and possibly a Chevrolet Suburban, which was actually purchased by another one of Burman’s underage prostitutes. The two spent a lot of time together at Alrashed Auto Sales drinking and gambling, according to court records. Burman also would often show off his newest prostitutes at the dealership, records stated.
On one of those occasions, Al Rashed told an underage girl to meet him in the dealership bathroom, so he could see what she looked like naked, record stated.
Al Rashed was arrested by Greeley police last Thursday. He was released from Weld County Jail on Friday after posting his $200,000 bond.
Burman, on the other hand, was arrested in December and appears to have been a larger target in a wider investigation. He is charged in Weld District Court with 39 felony counts relating to human trafficking, pimping and soliciting for child prostitution, among many others.
Burman allegedly met most of his child prostitutes on Facebook, including one girl whom he picked up from Texas and drove to Colorado, according to court records. Burman remains in custody in Weld County Jail on $500,000 bond.

If the "child" had a driver's license, then she was 16 or older. This means the DA will have to prove the perp did not think she was 18 or older.
This is not like the Rotherham, UK cases where Muslim gangs were trafficking kids 13 or younger.
