Sounds like a nasty kidnap for ransom as the thug killer was probably not a business associate of the now dead father. Why didn’t the personal assistant alert the cops or bank that something was up? Delivering lots of cash is a strange occurrence.

I think there’s more to this awful story to come out. The thug must have either researched this guy or had an informant about the family - somebody at the business or a relative of the house cleaner. Thugs don’t study.

Did he do all this by himself?

And what about the businessman? He ran an ironworks company, but had 40 grand at work (probably) and a very expensive art collection. He also could afford to send two daughters to an exclusive boarding school, plus his other big expenses in his home and car. Ironworks businesses must make a lot more money than I believe.
