Two observations:

1. If true, this cop ought to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

2. The media seems more upset over THIS waste of taxpayer dollars than other public officials who waste MILLIONS OF DOLLARS on vacations.

I don’t believe he is going to end up saving himself a lot of money.

Had a cop up here in NE Fla. not too long ago got caught letting his girlfriend drive his patrol car around. Apparently the screening process for new LEO hires needs to be scrutinized.

He might save money - a couple years of free room and board adds up.

Good point. He is a thug that should go to jail.

A ‘bad cop’? Hmmmm.... Another smug, overpaid HR exec made ANOTHER bad decision.

How does a cop all at once decide to cheat, break the law or otherwise demonstrate very bad judgment? He doesn’t. There are always crooks out there ... you don’t have to HIRE them for police duty.

That guy has been doing wrong stuff for a while and he wasn’t properly vetted. It’s ALWAYS an HR issue.

Ferraris were also on his property, police said.

What's the problem with that? Miami cops have been known to drive Ferraris before.

I hate to sound jaded but I’ll wait and see what the department/courts do. He will plea to a lesser charge and be allowed to retire... my prediction. I’m hope I’m proved wrong.

A “black BMW” isn’t cheap. They’d better see what else he was stealing, or the taxpayers are really generous in FL.

“A black BMW isn’t cheap...”

From my limited car understanding, neither is a Ferraris. He somehow was able to purchase a lot of expensive vehicles.

Police are drawn from the general population and as the morality of the general population falls the morality of the police will follow.

Something else to consider and I’ve seen it in the past, he gets a slap on the wrist, fine, reprimand or whatever. Quits and then hires on with a different law enforcement agency in the surrounding area or county. It happens.

They have lowered the standards to get more minorities. The miracle is, not that catch a few, it is that they do not catch more.

But all is well, in a few more minutes, the jackboot lickers will be along to defend him.

How does a cop afford BMWs and Ferraris?

I worked for Freightliner truck plant.

Some of these guys did not have high school diplomas but were making $25-35 per hour, working as much overtime as needed.
With unlimited overtime, some were making $100k a year on a hourly manual labor job with no diploma. The union benefits gave them tons of extra cash including %100 401k match had them retiring at 25 years of service.

Dumbasses would get caught swiping copper wire or aluminum scrap and get fired. STUPID!!!

50 years old... making $90k a year without a diploma... get fired for stealing wire. STUPID!!!

This is a much more serious crime than shooting someone's attack Golden Retriever puppy, or shooting a veteran while executing a no-knock warrant at the wrong address. This cop was stealing from the police force. They take crimes like that seriously, and I expect the criminal to spend some time behind bars.
