Plus a little wisdom to know who is really homeless and who are the scammers. When I see able bodied people on street corners hustling for ‘donations’ my radar goes up.
Yep, that BMW parked around the corner may well see the hustler enter it and drive away with a few hundred bucks more than he had when he parked it!
Maybe when the kid is older his mom can explain that many of those people are homeless because the places offering to help them do not allow drugs and alcohol, and that these people oftentimes choose the drugs and alcohol over help.
That is the simple reason they beg rather than improving their situation.
They do not desire to be held to rules.
