The eldest daughter of civil rights activist Al Sharpton has launched a bid to sue the city of New York for $5 million after she fell in the street and sprained her ankle.
Dominique Sharpton, 29, said she was 'severely injured, bruised and wounded' when she stumbled over uneven pavement at the corner of Broome Street and Broadway downtown last year.
According to the lawsuit obtained by The New York Post, Sharpton now wants millions of tax payer money to compensate her for the fall which occurred on October 2, 2014.

Why doesn’t she call herself Reverend Sharpton? After all, this is the age of woman pastors, isn’t it? Might as well hop all the way onto her daddy’s bus.
After the taxpayers pay her a settlement she can help her tax cheating father pay his taxes with taxpayer money.
There are legal systems where 1) the loser pays all costs, and 2) court fees must be fronted based on the value of the suit.
I’m not saying those would be generally better, but they sure don’t see any idiotic suits like this one!
I don’t let these kinds of lawsuits raise my blood pressure anymore. She’ll get a settlement from the city for a few hundred thousand dollars, the lawyer pocketing a third of it.
Just embezzlement taken to the next logical step. It isn’t her money or their money, so who cares? Until the public starts making these settlements actually hurt those who give away our money, these types of things will continue.
The city will respond that by settling, they are saving taxpayers liability as well as likely thousands more that would have been spent defending the city. While technically correct, in this particular case, failing to vigorously defend the public’s money ensures that this will be but one of thousands of such lawsuits to occur. So they’ll pay off the brief registration of paper with little to no investigation, and the next one will be filed.
It is a lottery win for the plaintiff, a steady income for the law firms, and more money for street repairs, and the need for more taxes to pay for it all.

Evidently she didn’t consult with her father or she would have claimed...’I slipped on the uneven pavement and fell into a pile of shite that the city didn’t clean up’.
Maybe the City’s way of transparently paying money to the Sharpton family as opposed to under the table?
