Well, having Senator Ayotte calling for Guinta’s resignation (which, it goes without saying, I agree is absurd) tells us one thing: He would not have survived the GOP primary next year. And it’s certainly the case that the GOP has a better chance of holding the seat in a special election later this year than in November 2016.

If there’s a special election, I hope that Ovide Lamontagne runs. And I really, really hope that Scott Brown doesn’t think that this is his ticket to elected office in NH in preparation for another statewide run.

I do not see how there is an illegality.

it is illegal for parents to loan money to a campaign, if the funds are repaid? only the candidate can loan money?

Lamontagne is a resident of Manchester, so he does live in the 1st. His name is mentioned as a possible Senate primary challenger to Ayotte next year.
