Fat, Ugly and Morally Inconsistent

. Perhaps the worst is the claim that most pro-lifers aren’t consistently pro-life but are “only anti-abortion.”

That's a stupid game of semantics. You could flip that around and say "pro-choice" people don't support school choice, only abortion. Everyone knows the terms pro life/choice specifically refer to abortion (and sometimes euthanasia) and not economic or welfare policy.

First of all, I’m not sure what’s wrong with being “anti-abortion” aside from the fact that “anti” gives some people the heebie-jeebies.

Second, I’m pretty sure the labels are distinctions without a difference. The key is, I want to stop people from killing unborn children. If that makes me pro this or anti that, I couldn’t care less. Just stop murdering babies!

And as for caring for expectant mothers who can’t care for themselves (or the children they’re about to bear), the fact that someone else may or may not step up and do THEIR job doesn’t grant them the right to refuse to do that job, either through neglect or abortion.

That child’s life should not be optional.

I have done this in conversations with liberals who come out with the absurd claim that conservatives are “inconsistent” to oppose abortion while favoring the death penalty for murder. First I answer that if conservatives are inconsistent then liberals who do the reverse MUST also be inconsistent because the mirror image of an inconsistent position must also be inconsistent. If your nose is crooked then the image of your nose in a mirror is also crooked, just crooked the other way. Then I tell them that it has to be consistent to oppose killing innocent unborn babies while at the same time supporting death for those who kill innocent people for no reason, to say otherwise is insanity. Therefore the liberal position must ALSO be consistent since it is the mirror image of the conservative position. Therefore BOTH are consistent, the conservative position is consistently logical, favoring protection for the innocent while punishing the guilty, while the liberal position is consistently ILLOGICAL, favoring destruction of the innocent while protecting the guilty. It is often very amusing to watch the sputtering and snorting that follows.
