In ordinary times, MasterGunner01, I’d agree with you. We generally see these things the same way. But with this Administration, almost anything stupid and dangerous in foreign relations could happen.
It really doesn’t seem like a safe bet that Obama will not do something so provocative and aggressive that Putin will feel compelled to attack NATO or the US or both. Obama would do this out of personal spite, simply because he dislikes Putin, who has made him look so foolish and weak.
If Putin looks at the chessboard and sees that as a matter of internal Russian politics, he can’t take some minor military insult from Obama, and deduces he can get away with a massive military response because Obama is too cowardly or the US military is too weak to respond, we are all in for a bad time. But Obama, a coward and a bully who often miscalculates (beer summit, anyone?), could easily start it.
I pity the Gulf States leaders who made Obama look foolish yesterday. I hope they are ready for the spiteful, mostly anonymous attacks of many kinds he will be unleashing.
