Senate Reverses Course and Advances TPP Fast Track Bill
EFF ^ | May 14, 2015 | Maira Sutton

The (U.S. Senate advanced the Fast Track bill today) in a rushed vote following a slew of concessions made to swing Democrats who had ( voted to block it earlier this week.) The setback on Tuesday could have forced proponents of the ((TPP), the ((TTIP), and other secretive, anti-user trade agreements to go back to the drawing board to come up with a new bill. Unfortunately, Senate leaders were able to get around this impasse within 48 hours by agreeing to let Democrats vote on some other trade-enforcement measures first before holding the vote on Fast Track.

[snip] President Obama and the U.S. Trade Representative have been spreading complete lies about Fast Track and the TPP, even going so far as to say that the TPP isn't secret and that critics are a bunch of misguided liberals who "don't know what what they're talking about." But our concerns are not about being left or right of the political aisle—we're defending our right to free speech, access to knowledge, and privacy online.

WHY THE SECRECY?

Read the article, educate yourself then call your Rep. in Congress to open this up for debate and lift the secrecy in total.

Why the secrecy?

Same reason McConnell and McCain used the IRS
to destroy the TEA Party and conservatives.

I talked with Senator Cassidy’s office aide yesterday. He denied that the bill was being held in secrecy. I also called Vitter’s office. Both aides were definitely not sympathetic.

“Both aides were definitely not sympathetic.”

Did you expect them to be? I've given up contacting any of my senators or representatives. They don't represent us. We don't have the money or the thugs to bend them to our will.

I thought this Bill had been defeated in the Senate yesterday or the day before.

I had a feeling the democrats were just putting on a show. Bastards, the lot on both sides of the aisle.

I want to criticize that statement, but it's hard to. My local state representative is quite responsive. But the ones in federal offices, not so much. In fact, not at all.

“did you ask for a copy of the fast track legislation??”

No, because I can assume that if Senator Sessions, Senator Paul, and a few Representatives I heard complain about it, that I would be wasting my time. To comprehend the legislation, you would need, besides the 800 pages, about another 15 feet of explanatory government documents. One of the aides told me that what was being reviewed was preliminary stuff. That is even worse.

Not really. I was surprised, however, that they didn’t try to conceal their support.

Do you know what gets old quick? My main frustration with my brothers and sisters on this site are that most still think we can vote our way out of this.

Once people realize that is no longer the case, perhaps then some real progress can be made in restoring the constitution and freedom. Until then, we are doomed.

To quote someone...”the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.

I appreciate all my fellow conservatives, even the crazy Catholics, but we need to do something differently.
