Excerpted from Politico: George Stephanopoulos says he should not have donated money to the Clinton Foundation and that he will not moderate the ABC News-sponsored Republican primary debate in February after failing to disclose those contributions.
In an interview with the On Media blog on Thursday, Stephanopoulos said that while he made the donations for the best reasons, he now realizes he should not have given.
In retrospect, I probably shouldnt have, even though I did it for the best reasons, he said.
Stephanopoulos also said that he has given a total of $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation. That figure represents charitable contributions of $25,000 in 2012, 2013 and 2014, respectively. ABC News initially said that Stephanopoulos had given a total of $50,000 to the foundation.
The Good Morning America co-anchor and host of This Week said that he would not moderate ABCs GOP debate, which is scheduled to take place in February in New Hampshire. Republican Sen. Rand Paul said Thursday that Stephanopoulos should be prohibited from moderating any debates during the 2016 presidential campaign.
I wont moderate that debate, Stephanopoulos said. I think Ive shown that I can moderate debates fairly. That said, I know there have been questions made about moderating debates this year. I want to be sure I dont deprive viewers of a good debate.
But Stephanopoulos said that he would not recuse himself from coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign, despite urging from the office of Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, which said Thursday that Sen. Lee would be advised not to go on This Week unless the host recuses himself from all 2016 coverage.
Throughout the interview, Stephanopoulos apologized profusely for failing to disclose his contributions to viewers, including during an interview with author Peter Schweizer, whose book Clinton Cash, alleges that donations to the foundation may have influenced some of Hillary Clintons actions as secretary of state. On Thursday, Schweizer accused Stephanopoulos of a massive breach of ethical standards. Keep reading

He’s still an @$$hole.
Now what about Candy “transcript” Crowley?
How many whores did 75k buy Bill?
How very noble of him.
Caught red-handed.
He is only apologizing because he got caught.
“I think Ive shown that I can moderate debates fairly”
That would be funny, if he hadn’t interjected the abortion/war on women meme into the 2012 debate.
Stephi was caught lying, conspiring, and destroying
America. That is Treason by MSM.
There should be NO debate on ABC for republicans. Do it on FOX. RINOs are better than fascist leftist traitors.
The very idea that the RNC would even consider a Clinton operative as a debate moderator in the first place, says a lot about the RNC.
The RNC and GOP need a violent enema!
“Recuses Himself From 2016 GOP Debate”
Well, that’s just downright honest and righteous of him.
...might have been more effective BEFORE he was caught...
Brian Williams would be proud.
Judging from his demonstrated tastes, about 75,000.
Typical LIB/DIM dishonest criminal...typical.
Two big points:
He was never going to moderate the GOP debates anyway. This would be like me announcing that because of something I had done, I have decided, as penance, I will not sleep with Jennifer Lopez.
He has only agreed to not moderate the ONLY debate in which Hillary will not participate. The issue is that he is partial to the Clinton’s, including Hillary. This is like me being caught cheating Joe, an easy mark, in poker....so I promise to never play poker again....with Fred.
How about we DEMAND that all Leftist Democrat “Newscasters” recuse themselves from moderating Republican Primary debates?
New Rule: “You can ONLY moderate a Republican Primary Debate if you’ve voted for a Republican Presidential candidate in the last 2 out of 3 Presidential General elections!”..?
Only makes sense that Republicans/Conservatives moderate Republican Primaries, not LIEFTISTS who HATE Conservatives, Republicans, Libertarians, Traditionalist, Federal Constitutionalists, Social Cons, Christians, etc.. Doesn’t it!?
If he was never going to moderate a GOP debate, wouldn’t this be a perfect opportunity for Reince Priebus to say that publicly and take this fraud out of the process?
He did, on Hannity tonight.
