Why Didn't Jeb Bush See Iraq Question Coming?
Sky News UK ^ | 5/14/15 | Dominic Waghorn

Posted on 05/14/2015 2:42:16 PM PDT by jimbo123

His latest attempt to clarify his stance on the Iraq war all seems very clumsy and awkward for a man who wants to be president.

President George W Bush had a speaking problem with his well-documented Bushisms.

His father was not immune either, once telling surprised listeners that Ronald Reagan and he had "had some sex", before correcting himself to say he had meant "setbacks".

Jeb Bush seems to have inherited the same problem, but a hearing disorder, too.

"I'm running for president in 2016," the former Florida governor let slip in Nevada on Wednesday before hastily adding an "if".

He has not officially declared his candidacy yet and one more gaffe like that could land him in legal difficulty.

Rules controlling official candidates are much tighter than those officially still just "thinking about it", Jeb Bush's current posture.

His ears let him down in the same week, landing him in trouble on the issue of Iraq.

It began with this question from Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly about his brother's invasion to topple Saddam Hussein.

"Knowing what we know now, would you have authorised the invasion?" she asked in an interview aired on Monday.

"I would have," he replied, "and so would have Hillary Clinton and so would have almost everybody that was confronted with the intelligence they got."

Cue howls of outrage on both the right and left of US politics.

Because he’s not the smart one after all.

As Moses might have said, “Oh, no, not another fu*king Bush”.

OR as The Frito Bandido would say, “Bush? We don’t need another stinkin’ Bush”.

I’m thinking Jeb’s the stupid Bush.

If they every do a remake of "The Godfather", Jeb would be a perfect "Fredo" Corleone.

Laura Ingraham ripped Jeb apart over this, said its the same as if he said he was stupid. Jeb responds by saying he misunderstood the question, that he wouldn't have, and FNC repeating that line.

I came to conclusion that invading Iraq was a disaster at the end of 2006. Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Condi... never told Americans we would need to keep troops and our $$$ in there forever under that hostile situation. They NEVER would have got that war authorization if they were candid about what it would lead to.

Doesn't history show what happens when the wrong people get the vote? Look at Baltimore.

RE:”Bush should just refund his donors’ money and move to Mexico. “

He needs amnesty to get more army recruits for the next few invasions.

They take lots of bodies in boots.

And when I first started pointing this fact out here I was nearly alone here on it,
except a few libertarians here who I disagreed with much else on issues. .

I was nearly run out of here on a rail for this back then, attack after attack.

But the ISIS+Iranian takeover of Iraq hardly proves that all those US lives and $$ was worth it to result in this,

Those f.ing ingrates. What a waste.

We should have installed a new strongman, Iraq was last governed well under the monarchy installed by the British.

Jeb doesn’t think. He reacts. He modifies his position when he gets any resistance.

He fought to “save” Terri Schiavo—by appealing to OTHERS to save her life.

When the time came for HIM to save her life, he ran away. He allowed a murder to proceed, on television.

There is no excuse for any of the GOP presidential candidates NOT to be prepared.

Here are some points to handle the Iraq question:

1. Reiterate points made in Bush's 2003 state of the union address;
2. Admit like in all wars mistakes were made but Iraq was won during Bush's administration as trumpeted by Biden and Obama in 2009 when they admitted Iraq was in great shape; and
3. The big mistake was made by Obama by pulling out US military might.

The result of of Obama’s HUGE mistake led to the following:
1. It allowed the unpopular Shia elected government to act even more irresponsible;
2. The US had no human intelligence;
3. The US lost all credibility in the region;
4. Finally, Obama’s apology tour, Arab Spring adventure in Egypt, support of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, the Libya Adventure and the Syrian Red line back track only inspires our enemies, i.e. Iran.

I was living in Asia before the Iraq invasion, and almost ALL of my conservative friends from the UK and Asia were dead set against the war, as they knew what would happen. It turned out they were 100% correct.
