BREAKING: (GOP) Senate puts Obama-supported trade bill back on track

In a burst of bipartisanship, the Republican-controlled Senate put President Obama's trade agenda back on course on Thursday, clearing the way for likely approval within days for legislation allowing the administration to negotiate global deals that Congress could support or reject but not change.

The 65-33 vote to resurrect the measure capped two days of political intrigue in which Democrats on both sides of the legislation initially joined forces to block action, then reached agreement with Republicans for votes on other enforcement measures to protect workers who lose jobs as a result of exports.

You’ll never hear any of the GOPES (government over the people {Republican} elite statists) ever dare say why everything that comes out from this regime is a lie or call them the godless, because they kicked God out in 2012 ,Suggest they’re a democrat in name only party. Or even speculate why democrats lie so much is because they don’t believe there is such a thing as sin.

Why ? Because it’s not being “bi-partisan”.

The GOP is dead. Irrelevant.

Me thinks the Chamber of Comrades has spoken and they do not care what you think. Matter of fact they Double Dog Dare conservative Americans to do something about it.

Truth be told if you have no money, you cannot buy votes. If cannot buy votes you will not win elections. The days of door to door canvassing are dead and gone. Come up with a plan, pick one candidate and stick with them through thick and thin. Didn’t work last time.

Change the rules. Don’t vote by the tens of millions and let the Democraps win, didn’t work either.

Ask what would the founding fathers have done

It is a fight that must be fought on the local level. Unfortunately too many voters wait until the national elections to become involved. By then it is too late.

First, the GOP must die.

Everything else comes after that.

Bull. You NEVER saw people stick to one candidate after Reagan. It has NOT been done since 1984. See “Lesser evil” Freepers and general public for details.

"The leadership is only part of the problem. The rest of it is the GOP".

Every Republican voted yes.

Ted Cruz and Rand Paul too.

They huffed and huffed, then caved without even blowing.

So not only would you prefer for the pro-abortion, pro-same-sex-”marriage,” pro-higher-taxes, pro-gun-grabbing, pro-open-borders, pro-environmental-extremism, pro-liberal-judges Democrat Russ Feingold to be elected over Ron Johnson (I mean, that must be your preference, since you know that either Feingold or (assuming that he’s the GOP nominee) Johnson will be elected, and you already said that you would not vote for Johnson in the general), but your Exhibit A as to why Johnson needs to be tossed overboard is because he helped Republicans in the Senate approve trade-promotion authority that is supported by EVERY CONSERVATIVE IN THE HOUSE AND SENATE?

Trade-promotion authority would apply for a period that far exceeds Obama’s term in office, and is opposed only by Marxist Democrats; the only reason why Obama supports it is because he’s the president for the next 20 months and wants some sort of free-trade accomplishment before he leaves office. Senator Ted Cruz and Congressman Tom McClintock—two of the smartest and most conservative members of Congress—have come out 100% in favor of the bill, and McClintock gave this explanation that should allay any fears that you may have (I’ll reprint it below). If you are so opposed to free trade, maybe you do agree with Feingold and liberal Democrats more than you do with conservative Republicans (even imperfect ones such as Ron Johnson).

Here’s what McClintock wrote in his e-mail letter to constituents and supporters entitled “Trade Means Freedom and Prosperity”:

“Dear Friend,

I was honored to address the nation on free trade this weekend by giving the Weekly Republican Address.

Trade means prosperity. More markets for American products means more jobs and higher wages for American workers. More products entering our economy means more consumer choices and lower prices.

But here’s the problem: unfair trade regulations, labor standards, high taxes and foreign subsidies often put American workers at a real disadvantage. To remove these barriers, we have to negotiate trade agreements to put Americans back in the game under fair and equal rules.

The Constitution gives Congress the authority to regulate commerce with other nations. Congress thus has the final say over any trade agreement, but trading partners must have confidence that once the agreement has been reached, it represents the last best offer of both sides – a meeting of the minds that won’t be repeatedly altered after the fact.

That is why, since the 1930’s, Congress has chosen to exercise its responsibility by establishing the broad terms of the agreement it seeks and then giving explicit instructions to our negotiators at the beginning of the process. IF, and only IF, these objectives are advanced in the agreement, Congress will then consider it as a whole package and either approve it or reject it.

That process is now called “Trade Promotion Authority.” It has stood the test of time, has been used to the great benefit of our nation in the past and has never been controversial until now.

From the left, the opposition comes from protectionist special interests. They fail to learn from the painful lessons of history. Protectionism is the fastest way to destroy an economy, as this nation has learned repeatedly, including during the Jefferson administration and again in the Hoover administration.

From the right, opposition comes from mistrust of this President’s judgment and competence, a mistrust I completely and unequivocally share.

It is precisely because of this mistrust that I support this bill. Without it, he can negotiate anything he wants. Trade Promotion Authority binds him to the will of Congress before the agreement is reached. IF — and only IF — he meets Congress’s objectives, will Congress then agree - not necessarily to past the agreement - but only to vote on it after the American people have had their say.

Like many of you, I am particularly concerned about illegal immigration. This bill forbids the President from making any changes to our laws, including our immigration laws.
The free exchange of goods – whether between people or nations – means that both sides go away with something of greater value to themselves – or the trade wouldn’t take place. Freedom creates prosperity, and the greater the freedom, the greater the prosperity. Trade Promotion Authority is the means by which this freedom is advanced – for ourselves and for our children.

Freedom works. And it’s time that we put it back to work.

Tom McClintock”

If it helps get RINOs out of power? Yup. No one said it would be pain free.

What do you mean by “caved”? This bill was supported by every conservative Republican from the get-go. This bill is precisely what Ronald Reagan favored.

I was completely unaware Reagan approved of Tip O’Neill negotiating trade agreements behind closed doors.

What we have is fascism. Both parties exist for the ever-enhanced riches and power of the ruling class. The dems control the people; the 'pubs profit from providing services for control.

We're a cash crop for the elite. When us little folk no longer provide a means for the elite to enhance their power, assets, and wealth, we'll be left to our own resources, even enabled on the path toward annihilation. It's already happening, with natural events providing a boost.

One thing we need to be aware of is how fragile civilization is. When stuff happens, it happens quickly and chaotically, and can't usually be reversed.

I’m skeptical that it’s bad, but how would you know, since so far NO details have been released that I can find. If you know details, please inform.

Ted introduced an amendment that prevents the bill’s provision for migrants to skirt existing US immigration law. In other words, his amendment stops an end-run around the current preliminary injunction that blocks Obama’s Executive Amnesty. This is the main reason Obama wanted this bill so bad because he wants to import a 5 million to 11 million voting bloc that will tilt the 2016 elections in favor of progressives.

Ted’s amendment should pass unless McConnell can find a way to strip the bill of Ted’s amendment. If McConnell can do that, then the only way Ted wins the presidency in 2016 is if massive massive MASSIVE amounts of patriots come out of every nook and cranny and vote. The importation of this huge progressive voting bloc is really the end game for Obama’s fundamental transformation.

Ted will vote YES on the rest of the bill because he is a believer in Reaganomics which I think is not as applicable today as it was in 1981. But it gives the President extraordinary powers until 2018 so Ted can use that power if he wins the presidency. And if as president he does not ask that it be renewed in 2018, it goes bye-bye.

The question is what can Obama do with the trade power without the power to forge ahead with the importation with his illegal voting bloc?

The GOP is the enemy of the middle class.

The Democrat party is the enemy of the middle class.

Who is in the corner of the middle class?

Ted Cruz’ amendment neuters that amnesty-like language.

We need to keep watch that this amendment gets in and stays in the bill.
