McConnell praises Obama on trade
The Hill ^ | May 14, 2015 | Jordain Carney

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) praised President Obama on the "fast track" trade bill, saying the Democrat commander in chief has "done his country a service."

"I’d like to thank the President too. No, you’re not hearing things. President Obama has done his country a service by taking on his base and pushing back on some of the more ridiculous rhetoric we’ve heard," the Republican leader said. "He was right to remind everyone that ‘you don’t make change through slogans’ or ‘ignoring realities.’"

McConnell added that Obama "should be recognized" for his role in the trade fight.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to wake up and this will all have been a nightmare. I hopeful anyway.

"why is it essentially secret?"

On one hand, you don't want the investors to know what's in it because they will pre-position themselves.

On the other hand, you don't want the unions, enviros, and social justice crowd to know because they will cherry pick details to organize opposition.

Essentially, the FTA is a document that contains protections for investors and protections for labor, enviro, and social welfare. And the disputes that arise are settled by the arbitration panel, and the courts have to honor the panel's decision.

Meanwhile, the prez has to have a minimum degree of transparency so that Congress knows what is in it, and have input as to what's in it prior to the document being signed by the trade representative and the prez, because after that, Congress can't change it. All they can do vote up or down. This is what they learned from NAFTA, the parallel agreement to NAFTA that Clinton negotiated was toothless.

Hey, Mitch—do us all a favor and do a Jumping Jim Jeffords. I’m sure the Dims would be glad to have you, after all you’re already voting with them. And your jumping ship to the Dim lineup would comport with truth in advertising laws.

Mitch McConnell (Dem-Ky.) should be asking about all of obamas criminal activities including mass murder in Mexico and the killing of Americans in Benghazi and supporting the terrorists but money is more important to him then honor and decency.

open ended Treaty than can rewritten after
the voting is over by The evil one to carry out Soros plans .
The treaty is designed to destroy the US like treaties destroyed England.
The Treaty will over rule US laws and flood the country in cheap labor just line England , add gun control , add massive global warming taxes all like England now suffers under .
Thats why its secret since they gave not written the details just like Soros Net neutrality disaster !

You’ve described the gamesmanship from the Administration’s point of view quite well. If I had ANY level of trust, I’d say that limited disclosure might be their only way to proceed so that the legislation doesn’t get pecked to death before the vote.

But, I have NO level of trust in the President. He’s a sneaky, cowardly, smug little pr**k who folds over internationally, but is very bold with the big stick of lawfare and legislation. We saw the “enabling law” aspects of the ACA (”Obamacare”) where all sorts of things were “to be determined by the Secretary of HHS”, and those that weren’t just got reinterpreted by Presidential fiat.

Any rumor that TPP contains similar traps sets me on edge.

McWeasel along with the rest of Congress is bought and paid for by the Chamber of Crony Fascism. The congress and powers in Washington are so corrupt and self serving that I would long for a second gilded age. At least in the gilded age the scum in Washington still cared about the country and their constituents to a certain extent. This current bunch care only about their checking account and being re-elected and they make the 19th century gang look like saints.

McConnell is Hussein’s enforcer in the Senate as Boehner is his enforcer in the House.

If it’s so good for the US, release it to the public and give them a few weeks to study it.

And I have yet to see one of the Freepers that screamed and hollered about sending him back to DC apologize to America and accept responsibility for their part in reelecting him.
Not one.

We could have had a weak freshman Democrat unable to do squat. Instead, thanks to the lesser evil voters’ we have this. A GOP Senate Majority leader with a hate for America and a mission to back Obama.

we also have Obama because some would not summon the courage to decide between the two candidates.

Instead they copped out and declared sanctimonious self righteousness to be a principled act while letting America down

Sorry lib, I stopped cutting my own throat with liberals a long time ago. That you aren’t smart enough to do likewise isn’t my problem.

I know you’d like to get people to forget you and people like you are the reason we have a virulently liberal GOP, but it was your crew that put Mitch and JonBon back there and gave them a gutless army to back Democrats with.

Yes.

This is worse than Reid. The enemy is not only ‘inside the wire’ but secretly has been all along.

Unfortunately, it seems some very decent people with good intentions are unable to get their minds past the democrat vs. republican circus show. In the past I’ve had an easier time convincing democrats to re-register as republicans, using the argument that their grandpa’s democrat party has been taken over by Marxists and the like, than I’ve recently had trying to just convince die hard, conservative, republicans of the same: the GOP is infected with big time Marxist liberals. Perhaps they don’t want to accept truth because the alternatives are not pleasant and will require a huge amount of work to remedy.

I’m not very confident we have until the next election to try and save what remains of the republic. We need to stop crap like TPP right now. When the candidates that we are putting our hopes in for the next election are going along with all the secrecy, and behaving and voting like they are, something is most certainly wrong, and TPTB see the need and urgency to get this crap in place NOW.

After what we have experienced in the last few years, not one Freeper has an excuse. If a person continues making excuses for repeating the same madness, I don’t see how they are decent people. They are saboteurs.

Even the general non political junkie public has even begun to turn away from SOP ‘GOPe Republicanism’. They figured this stuff out. If someone ‘in the know’ continues backing these leftists, what else can they be but a leftist themselves? It’s pretty much time for people to pick a side and go with it. The GOP ain’t going to love us for our conservatism ‘No matter what’.

I definitely agree. It IS time for people to pick a side and go with it. We need to separate the sheep from the goats. Yet a better example is from Jesus when he spoke of the good seed and the tares:

“...like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

Of course it is worse than Reid. Since November, the big majority McConnell got gave him absolute power , and destroyed the necessity for an “opposition party”. McConnell is giving Obama 100% of what he wants, as is Drunkin Boner.
