The first sentence says York County, NC. I just assumed NC stood for North Carolina.

Yeah, the article got it wrong.

I live in Georgia now but I was born and raised in NC.

In eighth grade we had a test on the counties and county seats. All 100 of them. We were given a map of the counties with a number for each one. The test form was numbered 1-100 with two blanks for each. Passing was 80% and spelling counted.
