"Christians of Iraq are the first people of the land. You read about us in the Old Testament of the Bible. Christianity came to Iraq from the very earliest days through the preaching and witness of St Thomas and others of the Apostles and Church Elders. While our ancestors experienced all kinds of persecution, they stayed in their land, building a culture that has served humanity for the ages. We, as Christians, do not want, or deserve to leave or be forced out of our country any more than you would want to leave or be forced out of yours. But the current persecution that our community is facing is the most brutal in our history."
As ISIS continues to recruit fighters, the Islamic terror army is murdering Christians in Iraq and wiping the country clean of any historical evidence the religion has ever existed in the region. Christian women are being raped by ISIS fighters as a way to convert them to Islam, historical sites are being destroyed and hundreds-of-thousands of Christians and other minority religious groups have been forced to flee their ancient homes.

This makes me sick but I don’t know what I can do about it. I can write about it in my parish newsletter, but that is that in the face of these enormities?

Much like the world watched Hitler murder the Jews, The world is now watching this and doing nothing!
As soon as some @sshole in Washington says that "Islam is a religion of peace" and claims that it's a good idea for the U.S. to piss away thousands if American lives and hundreds of billions of dollars in a military campaign to "promote democracy" in a Third World sh!thole, any principled Christian should pack up and move out of whatever country the U.S. is preparing to invade.
Not that they're doing "nothing." Liberals are doing a lot of laughing and cheering. They, like their ISIS fellow travelers, despise Christians and would love nothing more than the eradication of everything pertaining to it.
So long as ISIS sympathizers are in charge in western countries, there is truly nothing that can or will be done.
Look here Sister, don't expect much unless you can contribute a few hundred thousand to several reelection campaigns.

How can I read about “Christians in the Old Testament? Christianity did not exist, had not been formalized during Old Testament times.
I tell you what you can do. Tell everyone you know about it. When you are at church, carry. One day it could very well save your life and a bunch of other people.
Pray about this. Heavy duty prayer is the best for a spiritual battle like this.
