During a conversation about poverty, President Obama said he was concerned that more wealthy people were separated from poverty because they chose to frequent private institutions instead of public ones.
“Part of what’s happened is, is that elites in a very mobile, globalized world are able to live together, away from folks who are not as wealthy, and so they feel less of a commitment to making those investments,” he explained during a panel discussion on poverty at Georgetown University today.
Obama criticized the free-market system in America for allowing higher concentrations of wealth to exist among the rich while the bottom percentage was being left behind and receiving a smaller portion of that wealth.
“Those who are doing better and better, more skilled, more educated, – luckier – having greater advantages are withdrawing from the commons,” he said. “Kids start going to private schools, kids start working out at private clubs instead of the public parks, an anti-government ideology then disinvests from those common goods and those things that draw us together.”
That led fewer people to care about public institutions, Obama explained, leading to government cuts to important public functions – making the nation less equal.
Obama insisted that there needed to be more investments in public schools, public universities, public early child education and public infrastructure, insisting that funding these organizations both “grows our economy and spreads it around.”

As you stated, conservatives who send their kids to private schools do no financial harm to those left in public schools and as you pointed out actually increase the funds available per student for those still attending.
BUT, what he is not explicitly saying is this:
When conservatives put their kids in private schools.. they stop caring about what the public schools actually teach to the children remaining. The result is public schools that only teach PC crap about global warming, white privilege, martin luther king, and joe’s two dads.
But he will NEVER say that.

True. In fact, I’m not aware that Obama himself ever attended a public school of any type, anywhere, ever. His entire academic career (that portion that can actually be verified, that is) consists of attending one ritzy private school after another.
But wouldn’t that also be a positive argument? No pesky Conservative parents monitoring/interfering with the Leftist pap foisted on public school kids, no annoying Conservative kids challenging the Leftist pap as it’s being foisted upon them?
Assuming that is actually allowed to happen, of course.
I grew up in a pretty affluent locale. Even then my parents chose to send my sister and me to private schools. Where our teachers, altho uniformly Liberal, didn’t give a hoot about what position you took so long as you had sound analysis and could back it up, factually.
Which isn’t exactly the predominant teaching mentality in public schools these days, is it?
Uh...doesn’t Mr. Obama send his girls to private school? Isn’t Mr. Obama rich? I am confused. He is speaking against his own lifestyle. Where is he,going with this?

First, I don’t send my kids to private schools... because I can’t afford it.
Second, If I could afford it, it would be to get them away from the children who look, act, and think, as you do.
Liberals are never shamed by their hypocrisy,

Obama’s right. Time to Kill the Rich, take all their Money and spread it around, as he told Joe the Plumber.
