If they go down - it's global warming
If they stay the same - it's global warming.

And global warming is caused by mankind...
Therefore, mankind must be controlled so that we can control the global temperatures and ice thickness...
Because only global-warming scientists know what the temperatures are supposed to be, and how much they should and should not change on a daily basis.
