It seems the holder of this seat always congress out of Tupelo. I will vote for Kelly, but will be watching him and who knows he might be primaried next year. Ross could have done better, but the tea party got in late. Glad Tagert the carpet bagger is out though. Many people lost serious money on this with ads, Jones, Tagert, Collins, Pirkle. I never saw a Kelly commercial though
Lee was the most populous county in the district, I believe it’s now DeSoto. Most of the district is smaller more rural counties. years ago I heard an expression that the voters didn’t want a Congressman from “North of the Coldwater”, meaning DeSoto county, they view it as suburban Memphis and they don’t want a Memphis Congressman. I believe that still exists. Quinten Whitwell ran as DeSoto Countian, at least here in DeSoto county, he left here when he was 14 and moved to Oxford and then to Jackson and was on the City council and then back to Oxford, I don’t believe he had been back long enough for residency. He spent a lot of money on local TV and mailers but I believe he only got 4% in the district and no more than 5 in Desoto county.
