That bit about incomes of "householders who have completed high school" is a smoke screen because back on the Planet Earth most Americans not only finished high school but have also gone on to some form of trade-school/college. Census numbers show real median household incomes increased as employees left manufacturing, peaked decades later, and are still thousands of dollars higher than they were in '79.
