DHS secretary: Lone-wolf attackers could ‘strike at any moment’

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Sunday that the United States is facing a new era in which a lone-wolf terrorist could “strike at any moment.”

“We’re very definitely in a new environment, because of ISIL’s effective use of social media, the Internet, which has the ability to reach into the homeland and possibly inspire others,” Johnson said in an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” using the administration's preferred acronym for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“Because of the use of the Internet, we could have little or no notice in advance of an independent actor attempting to strike.”

As a result, Johnson said, the federal government is making a greater effort to engage with state and local law enforcement and encourage them to be “vigilant” about what is happening in their communities.

Part of this effort is meeting with Muslim community leaders and urging them to counter ISIS's recruitment campaign on social media, which Johnson called “slick” and “effective.”

Lawmakers and experts have been critical of the federal government’s attempts to challenge that campaign, with Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) reportedly calling the efforts “laughable.”

Johnson took issue with this description, but acknowledged that community leaders are in the best position to reach out to individuals which might be vulnerable to radicalization.

“It has to come from Islamic leaders, who frankly can talk the language better than the federal government can,” he said.

“And so when I meet with community leaders, Islamic leaders, that’s one of the things that we urge them to do.”

The interview took place two days after the military increased security at U.S. bases over concerns about terrorist threats.

Authorities are also investigating an attempted attack on a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest outside of Dallas, Texas for which ISIS has claimed credit.

He did it slowly over just 6½-7 years, and the last 18mos are going to be more terrible than most of us can imagine.

We might be attacked by a single lone wolf terrorists, or maybe a bigger threat is another White House encouraged army of social justice that will burn another major American city.

“We’re very definitely in a new environment, because of ISIL’s effective use of social media, the Internet, which has the ability to reach into the homeland and possibly inspire others”

More likely because of Obama’s deliberately bringing in 10’s of thousands of muslims from Syria and other Arab Spring countries and dropping them strategically around the country. This is just the govt’s newest attempt at getting a false flag going.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Sunday that the United States is facing a new era in which a lone-wolf terrorist could “strike at any moment.”

These statements mean nothing. They are for no other reason than to alarm the public.

"Please protect us! Will do anything, even surrender my rights uner the United States Constitution."

I could get hit by a mack truck at any moment. Police officers sitting in their cars can be assassinated at any moment. Life changes on a dime and I refuse to live in fear.

There is the excuse to clamp down on free speech on the Internet. How many days do we have left? 30 or so.

All the more reason for universal concealed carry. Better to provide an armed response.

It should read: Since we pulled our troops out of Iraq, it has made it more dangerous here.

4. Import moslems and locate large numbers of them in the more conservative parts of the country.

“Traitors in media and government scheme together against those Americans and their patriotic organizations that want to recapture our lost freedom. Most of Congress is complicit. “

Our government was captured long ago by globalist technocrats that are pushing toward a one world government. We can vote for whoever we want to but they will be ineffectual or isolated if they try to change things in any meaningful way. That’s why the Republicans are always caving in, they’ve been coerced or flat out bought. Of course no one will believe that their favorite politician would do such a thing.
Of course we’ve enabled the destruction of our liberties through lingering belief in the government. Just wave the flag and we’ll be on board. We should have started hanging the bastards during Wilson presidency.
