Mob rule replaces rule of law. It is a crime to steal Swisher Sweets from a store, it is a crime to attempt to take a police officer’s gun, it is a crime to sell single cigarettes, it is a crime to resist arrest and it is a crime to sell drugs, it is a crime to flee arrest. If the mob believes these laws are unjust, change them, don’t throw a tantrum to get your way. Use logic and persuasion get the laws you want.
The problem with each of these is, if there are no police to enforce the law the people will turn to unlawful means to get protection, purchasing protection from gangs where there is only rule by fiat of the gang. Where is this protection money going to come from, the tax payer through benefits from federal programs. What is missing from these stories is the relationship between federal dollars and illegal drug spending. And, I will posit there is also a money laundering kickback scheme to the Bolshies.
