Karl Rove surrenders to ObamaCare
The Hill ^ | May 8, 2015 | By Brent Budowsky

Posted on 05/08/2015 7:19:22 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

It is with great pleasure that I rise in praise of Karl Rove, who now largely agrees with me that Republicans should place into the dustbin their bogus proposal to repeal ObamaCare.

In my recent column in The Hill, "The 'Clinton Cash' con," I suggested that the new book by Peter Schweizer proves absolutely nothing on the matter of whether Hillary Clinton committed any wrongdoing, and it is a con to suggest or imply otherwise. I add today a discussion of another con game by Republicans, the suggestion that they will repeal ObamaCare, which they know they will not do, but pretend they will to give red meat to the right-wing base; a promise they know they will not keep.

And now comes Rove, on the op-ed page of The Wall Street Journal and the other places he inhabits, telling Republicans (correctly) that their pledge to repeal ObamaCare is a bad and politically stupid idea. Rove's acknowledges (correctly) that it will not be repealed, and warns Republicans (correctly) they could pay a heavy price with voters if the Supreme Court overturns ObamaCare and Republicans have to face endless news stories about the bad things that happen to Americans if ObamaCare is overturned or repealed and Republicans have nothing to offer instead (which they don't). I believe Chief Justice John Roberts and a Supreme Court majority will uphold ObamaCare in its upcoming and monumental decision. I believe the court will agree with me that the legislative intent of the law is clear, that all exchanges should receive subsidies, and that they will agree with me that the havoc to healthcare and the painful damage to Americans from a decision against ObamaCare, or repeal of ObamaCare, would be a disaster.

I love when the enemy tells me what I should do. It means I should do something completely different.

I don’t want to bring too much attention to the cartoon Karl Rove drew of Mohammed because John Hinckley might find out Karl Rove drew it while Rove was hanging out at Jodie Foster’s place...

The author of this polemic is beating a series of straw horses. Could we get back to the point - i.e. the carved-in-stone provisions of the U.S. Constitution?

The Constitution is not a living organism. It is not an airy-fairy set of aspirational principles. It is not a suggested set of guidelines on which we can embellish like some wannabe diva improvising on the "Star Spangled Banner."

It is, rather, the rubric under which our government is constrained to act - by virtue of power granted by "We The People!"

As Charley Eckman used to say, it's a very simple ball game: we - the people - granted limited powers to you, the government. You derive your power from us, you work for us and we - not you - are the master.

Repeal ObamaCare: repeal it now! It was unconstitutional from the get-go, it will propel us into Third World poverty, and the precedent of its adoption will serve as the death-knell of our American tradition of Freedom. It was devised to be difficult to amend for obvious reasons. Karl Rove and the other fellow travelers in the establishment GOP are one of reasons I am a registered Conservative.

I think we can expect to see articles such as this with increasing frequency as we approach the June recess of the court and the announcement of its decision in this King v Burwell case.

The author says he’s confident the decision will favor upholding the government’s position that subsidies to those on federal exchanges are lawful. He’s whistling past the graveyard IMHO and likely anticipates the plaintiffs winning. He (and others) are trying to lay the groundwork for what follows.

What SHOULD follow is to let Obamacare quickly descend into its financial death spiral. What I fear will follow is that McConnell and the RINOs will unite with the ‘RATS to rescue Obamacare.

In any case, I think we can expect to see much more of these efforts to shape the battlefield.

Well, I wonder why? Could it be that Rove is a member of the Uniparty, and they are all on the same page?

All you GOP FOREVER idiots are dooming our nation by refusing to see the forest for the trees.

As I said to one of the lesser evil fans today...

“It means the people that demanded ‘lesser evil’ by electing candidates everyone knew were RINO/Liberal are 100% responsible for the hell we have today. They were told, shown proof and had explained to them what would happen with their cunning plan to “get them in and then hold their feet to the fire because the Dem is worse”.

We were dead right. No feet were or could be held to the fire and they have completely capitulated to Barry and the liberals. Just as we said they would

Conservatives did not vote for them, Democrats did not vote for them. The Lesser evil crowd voted for them. And the lesser evil crowd owes every American an apology for the damage they caused.”

I wouldn't be too concerned about any of the points raised in this article because (1) Obamacare is so poorly conceived, constructed and implemented that it will implode on its own; and (2) Karl Rove is a complete idiot.

[ As much as I can’t stand Karl Rove, I do think his Mohammed cartoon should have won the prize at Geller’s event. I’ve never seen such a hilarious cartoon of Mohammed as the one submitted by Karl Rove. The cartoon that Karl Rove drew of Mohammed really made Mohammed look absolutely ridiculous and absurd. Hopefully Karl Rove will be around a long time to draw many more Mohammed cartoons as it seems he truly has a knack for it. ]

Karl Rove probably owns the same healthcare stocks as John Boehner who bought his in Dec 2008 and has made millions.

They also promised to stop Obama’s illegal executive amnesty during the campaign. We saw how quickly they caved on that.

I for one agree that Karl’s Mohammed cartoon was easily the most distasteful and hysterical. Who knew Karl Rove had such artistic talent as to portray the prophet in those kinds of lewd situations. And the pigs!! What a touch!! Way to go Karl Rove you Mohammed cartoon drawing fanatic you.

If the repeal comes with a Commerce Clause attack on the reasons for high medical costs, then it won’t be a disaster. The market will cure high healthcare costs.

You don’t need insurance, you need access to care. It would be a blessing to have Obamacare repealed. The Commerce Clause should attack and destroy any state, county or local law that harms interstate competition in healthcare.

That means:

1. insurance can be bought across state lines.

2. medical professionals can cross state lines.

3. zoning/licensing limitations would end and allow direct competition.

4. laws limiting medical practices be owned by physicians would end.

5. allow pharmacists and RNs to proscribe and etc.

At the federal level, allow doctors to use pharmaceuticals off-schedule, allow the patient and doctor to use experimental drugs and allow all drugs/medical devices approved in the EU and Japan to be used in America pending FDA approval.

Then over time, let the FDA die.

Spot on. It’s Obamacare and better/more accurately Democratcare until full repeal. I don’t see it hurting the GOP. Let them send bill after bill repealing it to Obama. Let Dems in Congress vote against it again and again. No Republican voted for it.
