Report: Tom Brady Could Be Suspended For Up To One Year (deflate-gate)
CBS ^ | May 7, 2015 2:40 pm ET | John Breech

Tom Brady's offseason might extend until 2016 if the NFL decides to drop the hammer on the Patriots quarterback and at least one report is indicating that the league could slam the hammer down hard.

According to the Miami Herald, Brady could be suspended for up to one year thanks to the part he played in Deflategate.

"Everything is being studied. Everything is being considered," an NFL source told the Herald.

Brady's punishment could end up being a shorter suspension, but the source told the Herald not to dismiss the possibility of a year-long suspension.

The Patriots quarterback, along with locker attendant Jim McNally and equipment assistant John Jastremski are the three people most likely to be disciplined, according to ESPN.

The 243-page Wells report found that Brady was "at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities of McNally and Jastremski involving the release of air from Patriots game balls."

In the report, Wells also noted that Brady refused to turn over his phone and other personal information for investigative purposes.

Brady's refusal to help the investigation could end up being one of the big reasons he's hit with a potentially big suspension.

In the NFL's Policy on Integrity of the Game & Enforcement of Competitive Rules, the league notes that "Failure to cooperate in an investigation shall be considered conduct detrimental to the League and will subject the offending club and responsible individual(s) to appropriate discipline."

Brady's decision to not fully cooperate in the investigation was duly noted in the Wells report.

"Brady's refusal to provide us with his own records on relevant topics, in response to our tailored requests, limited the evidence available for our review and analysis," the report said.

Whatever Brady's punishment ends up being, it will likely be handed down sometime in the near future.

-— Hence, the Pats’ organization is part of the problem here.

(As in coverup) -—

That would make sense, but Belichick can be randomly stubborn, too.

Contractual agreements probably give him little recourse, but it appears he’s being railroaded based on flimsy evidence.

Too bad the MSM isn’t as interested in Hitlery’s ethical violations as they are Tom Brady’s.

I'd throw in the low info voters with the media.

We know for a fact that other teams violate this rule. They’ve been caught on camera doing it and got nothing more than a stern letter.

Hey, whenever a thread comes up about dead Dems voting, or individual Dems voting early & voting often, don't bother commenting, we already know your ethical take on the matter:

"We know for a fact that other" (voters) "violate this rule."

So, hey, why bother reining anybody in...on anything ??

Why bother arresting Baltimore looters when we know a good chunk of conservatives have "stolen" something from their workplace?

speedings tickets...school zone violations...the works..."the other guy does, it, too"

Sorry but facts matter and all your strawmen doesn’t change the facts. Other teams violated this rule and the only punishment was a stern letter. If the league wants to talk about breaking this rule as an issue with fair play then the punishment needs to also follow fair play.

And as “impressionable kids” I’ll go with the Barkley on that, if your kids are learning moral lessons from athletes on TV the failure is YOU not the athlete.

Wow!That illusory world floating around you is powerful, after all, eh?

When it comes to moral lessons in this world of ours, unfortunately, it's never (a) OR (b)...

It's usually A, B, C, D...

And even the Bible makes it clear that beyond the world's negative influences, we have other battlefronts (supernatural agents otherwise known as forces of darkness...demons)...and even the corruption of our very own hearts.

And, yes, fortunately there's such a thing MORE (significant) influence and LESS (either insignificant or less weighty) influence...

But, unless you've got a kid bundled up in the wilds of Alaska free from peers, free from TV, free from the Internet...and the overwhelming # of high school & even middleschool kids...even kids who don't watch TV...are hooked up to the internet via cell phones...

They wind up taking in "moral lessons" from multiple sources.

Certainly, I believe NONE of these OTHER sources ... even peers ... overwhelm any influential parent taking an active role in their kids' lives.

Yet I heard somebody say it one time...

How you could take the best kid (even in an active Christian home) ...
...in the best classroom (even in a Christian school)...
...being taught by the best Christian educator...
...in the best Christian influenced community...
...and that kid would still rather offend that teacher than the peer group.

IoW...the peer group is both more powerful than we think...and that the protective "cacoon" of our kids is oft only as good as that kids' immediate daily peer group he/she hangs out with...

I was stunned to see most of the local Boston TV stations interrupt regular programming to show him at Salem State College. CNN did the same.

One more example of the decline of Western Civilization....as if we needed to remind ourselves.

Bingo. Every team does it.

As far as turning over my cell phone, FU comes to mind. I have texts and stuff on there that are nobody’s business. Can you see the press getting hold of texts between him and his wife. No was the polite and corre\ct answer.

I dont think so.

I think the Patriots' fumble stats 07 to present & Brady's completion percentage sudden shift...pre 07 to 07 & beyond......make it abundantly clear that Brady & co have been cheating since it first became an NFL standard for teams to supply their own offensive footballs.

IoW...nothing new was going on come playoffs this season.

They want the power to end Brady’s career which this and the flack yet to come likely will. The press and sport commentator elites will really pick up the pace once the punishment is handed down. It’s being played out of all proportion.

Need to vacate his Superbowl win too.

That would be a defense lawyers wet dream. You already have a penalty in the books that is a 250K fine plus a mid level draft pick. He and the Patriots would sue and win.
