I watched an episode of ‘Cops’ last night. They had a car chase perp hop out of his car and start running on foot. 2 Cops caught up to him and took him down. One cop had his knee of the perp’s head, while the other cop had a knee on the guy’s neck. Did not look too pleasant for the perp. Gray’s neck could have easily been broken during the initial takedown. Who knows.
I have no idea how it happened. All we know for sure is that Gray's spine was in one piece when he took off running and then after less than an hour in police custody it wasn't. Somebody did something to him.
Does anyone really know what this guy’s condition was? The term ‘severed spine’ keeps coming up, but until the authorities deign to show us plebs the actual medical report, I’m withholding judgment.
CNN or whatever media source cut out the part of the video where he stands up before getting into the van. They only show him rag doll up to it.
He could only have been injured inside the van-- and inside the van we have a witness claiming he believed Gray was trying to hurt himself. There's also a tox report saying he tested positive for marijauna and heroin.
IMO, that is totally uncalled for behavior on the cop's part. If you need to pin them, then put a knee in their back or butt, or sit on them. They need to remember, that regardless of what the perp did, that person on the ground is still a human being.
