A 450 MW gas fired combined cycle also can run at over 50% thermal efficiency (read: very efficient, your car is lucky to break 30%), cheap fuel, low emissions as methane has less carbon than most oil distillates.
Unless the shale revolution is a fraud (not likely) there should be no other generation method save nuclear.
Only downside is that there is no fuel stored at the plant, making the electric grid vulnerable to pipeline disruption.

The wind turbines are prone to mechanical problems and hugh maintenance costs. One good tornado and it is pile of scrap.
