Indeed, you are correct- easy to regulate by .gov, however, arms is arms, notice in the GCA an PL, knives are included ( the ban on knives in fed gov buildings etc is in the same US code para 922 just like suppressors and handguns and body armor, all fall under “arms”). The reality is that firearms re th regulated tool of the era as they are considered most effective- early warriors used a gun, the dropped it and drew sabers, pikes, swords, knives etc, we in the profession of arms today carry much of the same tools- bayonets, fighting knives, handguns etc to do the same, we just rely on rifles and machine guns for the heavy lifting due to effectiveness.
