A website for the Masonic police force says the group was created by the Knights Templar in 1100 B.C.

There were no knights of any sort in 1100 B.C.

Actually, the first military orders of knighthood were of Knights Hospitaller and of the Holy Sepulchre, both founded at the First Crusade of 1099, followed by the Knights Templar (1119) and the Order of Saint Lazarus (1098).

If you claim some status to the Knights of Templar....the earliest possible claim is 1149 AD (roughly 900 years ago). For the first decade, they required little to no funding...then they got around to the funding game.

These California guys really built up a bogus history legend over this.
