“joke really isn’t true about women.”

If it were completely true, the human race would die out. Still, it is substantially true.

“all men tend to message the same small group of very attractive women, whereas women tend to message men they deem less attractive.”

Rather than “all” men, surely we’re talking only about the men who post on those sites. I would call that a small, self-selected sample. It is a group of men who have failed at other means of finding a woman, and who can therefore be presumed to differ from men who date in the usual way and marry happily. They are not, as seems clear, representative of men at large.

The women who post on those sites are equally unrepresentative. As easy as it is for a woman to find a man, these women must be thought to have something catastrophically wrong with them. I’m betting that most of those women have ruined their lives by acting just as the women in the joke did, and most of the rest are, sadly, very unattractive.

Dating services are the last resort for people who can’t get a date, obviously. The poor unfortunates desperately searching for love there cannot be held up as avatars of their sex.

“Also, women tend to find men their own age attractive, whereas men of all ages look for much younger women. So, which one has the impossible standards?”

Women. Absent the civilizing influence of Christianity, it is easier for a successful man to find a younger woman than for an older woman to hold him.

Feminism trades largely on this biological fact to generate the resentment it needs to fuel its continued existence. Men are attracted to younger women, biologically and not voluntarily, because younger women have a better chance of bearing healthy children and raising them to adulthood. It’s in the DNA. You can’t legislate it away; you can’t educate it away; you can’t beat it out of men; and, in the end, there is an upper limit on the age of consent.

A man can grow more attractive with age, but a woman does not. Many women hate that fact so bitterly that it poisons their lives. Some would, I am convinced, raise the age of consent to fifty.

The only solution is found in the Bible, and that solution relies on the faith of the husband and wife.

Possibly true 30 years ago but online dating today is much like a restaurant menu with photos. Instead of going through the process of cooking a meal, a lot of men and women have become lazy and just pick from the menu.

Well, now, you see, you're illustrating my point...

I said that women are not as picky as your joke claims. Yet, you insisted that women are much pickier than men. Then you went on to claim that men are better looking (lol) as they age and prefer young women of childbearing years.

So, I think you should admit that I'm right - that men are pickier than women. ;-)

Along those lines, I have a second theory: many men (the bachelors, that is) tend to "overvalue" themselves but hold women to much higher standards. And your post backs up that theory, too...

You wrote: "A man can grow more attractive with age, but a woman does not."

Some men like to THINK they grow more attractive with age. But let's face it - most people look their best when they're younger. Both men and women. Hey, that's life. There are very few people who remain ageless.

"Many women hate that fact so bitterly that it poisons their lives. Some would, I am convinced, raise the age of consent to fifty."

Oh, stop it. LOL. There are plenty of cougars out there.

"we’re talking only about the men who post on those sites."

But their behavior would be representative of dating behavior everywhere.

It is a group of men who have failed at other means of finding a woman,

Not really. Online dating seems to be the thing to do today. I don't understand it myself, but it's what many people, especially young people, do today. And, the people considered "undesirable" are washed out early on, on those websites. So, the people remaining would be considered more "desirable."

I know a man who tried online dating for a month. He sent messages to 70 women. And he couldn't get one date. He was around 51-52 at the time, and he claimed he was messaging women age 45-55. Does that mean the women were picky? Actually, knowing what I know, I'd say they were being sensible. (See my second theory above.)

"The women who post on those sites are equally unrepresentative. As easy as it is for a woman to find a man,"

Oh, it's easy for the average woman to find a one-night stand, but not a lifelong partner.

"these women must be thought to have something catastrophically wrong with them. . . . most of the rest are, sadly, very unattractive."

No, most likely just the opposite. A woman deemed unattractive isn't going to receive offers for dates on those sites. She won't stay on that site for very long.

"The only solution is found in the Bible, and that solution relies on the faith of the husband and wife."

Well, at least we agree on that last point.
