There’s a Jerusalem Post report that US Navy has already stopped its close escort of merchant ships in the Gulf.
The Iranians are of insufficient stature to play with the big boys and are relegated to "the porch".
The US Navy does not even notice their presence at sea other than to note they are a potential collision hazard.
Just like a unflagged freighter.
What happened with the cargo ship they forced into port? I haven’t seen any further news on that.
