Ophonybama was not the CINC 10 years ago!

I don’t recall EVER hearing any conversations about martial law when “W” was in the White House!

“With the tiny size of our standing Army the USA couldn’t impose martial law on New York let alone the entire USA. Do the math.”

Yes they could. You like driving around, having electricity,
banking, running water, medical help? All of these things and
many more could come to an end with a small standing army.
About the only place that can or would stand against this
would be Texas and guess where the exorcise is. Up north
and California they would greet martial law with open arms
because they are already conditioned to accept
totalitarian socialism. It’s the south and especially Texas
that they have to destroy because they are the only ones
really trying to stop the socialists/liberal takeover of the US.

From the article, apparently Gohmert has seen the Pentagon Map of this exercise and he saw reasons to be concerned.

“The congressman took particular issue with the layout and labels of the Pentagon map for the exercise. “Once I observed the map depicting ‘hostile,’ ‘permissive,’ and ‘uncertain’ states and locations, I was rather appalled that the hostile areas amazingly have a Republican majority, ‘cling to their guns and religion,’ and believe in the sanctity of the United States Constitution.” Gohmert called on the Pentagon to change the map, the names on the map, and said “the tone of the exercise needs to be completely revamped so the federal government is not intentionally practicing war against its own states.”

Anyone remember the Homeland Security Report put out during Napolitano’s time about “Right Wing Terrorists”? Just about any Freeper would be considered as suspect under that report.

How about the recent report that was to be utilized by “local, state and federal law enforcement” teaching them about sovereign citizens and the threats they could be to law enforcement?

How many Freepers/patriotic Americans see that Obama and his ilk are pushing for a race war?

If you aren't questioning this Government you are naive at best and probably ignorant as well.

In essence, what would “martial law” do for those in power?
They don’t have the manpower to enforce it nationwide...

Is it a matter of purging “resistors”?
They’d have to focus on one area to the neglect of others.

I think a lot of freepers confuse being at war with FedGov and having martial law imposed by the military. There is a big difference and many do not understand or can keep up with the conversation.

The exercise is NOT massive: 2000 special operators across 7 states
over 5 months.

The exercise is NOT unprecedented: these types of exercises have been
conducted since the 1970s and there are towns in NC and VA that have
had their entire population role play for the military in the past.
This was also done in Germany during the Cold War.

The POTUS doesn’t get involved in planning military exercises.

The selection process for special operators has zero to do with politics.

The reason this is being conducted in the SW USA is because the
terrain there resembles the terrain features of the Middle East and
Southwest Asia.

These exercises cannot be held in countries in the Middle East and SW
Asia for obvious reasons.

The special operators who make up this particular exercise are
America’s foremost patriots. They actually risk life and limb to
fulfill their oath to the constitution. These are literally the Chris
Kyles of America. Do you really think those men are part of a plot to
help Barack Obama impose martial law?

I understand that people don’t trust Obama, but our military needs to
train in realistic scenarios whether Obama is president or Reagan is
president. Should the military cease all domestic training exercises
just because Obama is president?

About 6 weeks ago the British Army Parachute Regiment conducted joint
exercises with the 82nd Airborne and the 2nd Marine Division in North
Carolina. The same morons who are spreading paranoia about this
exercise claimed that that exercise was the opening phase of imposing
martial law. Well, the Paras went home and no martial law has been
imposed.

A few months ago, a Marine Expeditionary Unit conducted an amphibious
assault exercise near Jacksonville, Florida. The paranoia crowd
claimed that was a rehearsal for martial law too. These exercises are
NOT unprecedented. In fact they are commonplace.

Every time a train carrying armored vehicles is seen transiting the US
somewhere, the paranoids come out and claim “something is up.” This
nonsense has been going on for years. The military has routinely moved
armored units by rail car since the 1930s.

The guy who started all this paranoid nonsense is Alex Jones, a
sensationalist talk show host.

Just so you can grasp things there are more public sector workers in New Jersey than active duty US Marines.

Our armed forces are effective but tiny.

Your comment was very well considered from good knowledge and well said. In regards to the popular hysteria presented as news, let's skin some of the propaganda off and have a look at the ugly underneath.

On separation, there are no states comprised of majorities of true conservatives. There are few true conservatives in politics. Many who get their incomes from state and local governments receiving federal pork are wanting more pork and more control over their local populations. They wouldn't know what to do with the slaves for more revenues, though, because they're incompetent in technical matters of any real importance (not a reference to operating small appliances).

Large, government-linked businesses use them to prevent new, small competition (examples: regulations and fees against owner-builds of houses, local zoning against new, small manufacturing shops). For many of them, that's why they throw rotten eggs at federal government without coming out with their real desires.

There's another separatist movement that was born from necessities. Our desire is not for increases in funding for some and cuts for others. We would rather see the size of government generally cut including state and local government.

Under the circumstances, we're nonpolitical. We avoid buying things that we don't really need. We continue studies and practices toward becoming more self-sufficient. We learn and practice to produce something of good value as a hobby for now. We see the lack of revenues from lack of manufacturing on U.S. soil (as differentiated from "American-based" production on foreign soil).

As linked from Drudge,...

Hillionaires: Favorite among rich voters...

We've known about that class of constituent for around 30 years. They're in both political parties, and they've attacked our jobs, families and freedoms. Each of their factions is obsessed with increasing funding to itself while cutting funding to other factions. They're anti-defense, even many of those paid by defense. They're un-American. Some of their favorite candidates were immediately related to public school teachers or NGO feminists. They are insulting, obscene bandwagons before elections. They're morons.

Privatize all education. Repeal and abolish laws that hinder the rights of owners of private properties with primary homes. Repeal and abolish zoning laws and ordinances that hinder new, small manufacturing starts in rural areas. Get the government off of families. Abolish the doctrine and policies of Parens Patriae. Repeal and abolish laws that violate privacy. Outlaw NIMBY-ism. Outlaw gossip and false accusations.

The markets and dollar are going to fall anyway. Revenues will dry up. Evildoing offices will close. The worst of the worst might even start episodes of sloppy interlocking fire in their own suburbs.

Time is on our side.

"We have a crisis in virtually every area of governance, and nothing the administration is doing seems to work to mitigate that crisis. In fact, EVERYTHING they do or say seems to make the situation worse."

Of course, because they're politicians. They play the more ostensibly tacky and slightly more perverted side in contemporary, socialist politics. The social pathologies and behaviors of the constituents trying to hide behind them are an outrage.

How a man builds his house or anything on his property is not the neighbor's business. Whether or not a man chooses to produce something on his own property is not the neighbor's business. What a man chooses to repair is none of the neighbor's business. A man's private family matters are none of the neighbor's business. His appearances are none of the neighbor's business. Communications that men choose to conduct privately are none of the neighbors' business. That also applies to men and women who have legal possessions of rentals. Seeing men at work is not an outrage.

The sooner political folks connected to all levels of government realize those truths, the sooner they'll see increases in funding to some of the factions again. But first, the troublemakers will have to leave their offices and work real jobs for a generation or more.

As for taxes, for every action there is a reaction. Fees, property taxes and regulations up, economic activity down, revenues down, dollar down,...toughness, roughness and ingenuity of the rabble up.

Either the enlisted men know or don’t know. Basically.

But I’m leaning towards the side of tinfoil hat kookiness and really they are just standard exercises.

To those who doubt the military could impose martial law, I don’t think their plan is what we think of when we think “martial law” such as done by the Nazis. It’s to keep Obama in office. The troops, along with local law enforcement, would be used to shut down small groups of tea party types who would protest. And the republicans would support his actions.

And by the way, local cops would be so excited to work with the feds and the army they’d wet their pants. RESPECT MY AUTHORA-TIE! I heard a fat local cop who looked like “Cartman” actually say that a few months ago. And I doubt he’s ever watched Southpark.

Our military is being de-nutted. And there’s a reason. Our military has always been the one thing that could stop the country from be taken over. I’m not so sure it could protect the country from invasion today. And those who control the military truly believe conservatives are the most dangerous enemy they need to control.
