Witness to Michael Brown Shooting Sues Ferguson and Darren Wilson
NBC ^

Posted on 05/05/2015 4:59:13 PM PDT by don-o

A witness to a police officer's fatal shooting of Michael Brown last summer in Ferguson, Missouri, has filed a lawsuit alleging that he was wrongly stopped and fired on during the encounter on a city street.

The lawsuit, filed last week by Dorian Johnson, claims that the officer, Darren Wilson, fired at him and Brown as they ran away from him on Aug. 9. The lawsuit claims Wilson targeted him without probable cause.

"Officer Wilson acted with either deliberate indifference and/or reckless disregard toward" Johnson, the lawsuit says.

The suit also cited many of the Departmet of Justice findings, arguing that the city and former Police Chief Thomas Jackson "facilitated, encouraged and/or instigated" biased police behavior, including the "excessive force" used against Brown and Johnson.

The lawsuit seeks $25,000 in damages.

if they’re asking for 25k even they know its a joke. Or are they trying to make a “statement”
is there a “frivolous” lawsuit law requiring them to pay for defense.

He asked for only 25k because it costs 30-60k to show up in court and it is easier and cheaper to settle.
Lots of doctors suffer this with their insurance companies. Paying off these false claims is why healthcare and the cost of everything is so high.

Re: “if they’re asking for 25k even they know its a joke.”

Absolutely correct. If they really believed they had a legitimate case, they would be suing for couple hundred thousand at least. This about just getting some quick cash to make this idiot go away.

The suit asks for damages in excess of $25,000. That’s the amount they have plead to get the case into circuit court (as opposed to the associate division) in Missouri.

Uh huh. Dorian’s looking for his pay day. $25K is small potatoes, and he’s most likely looking for an out of court settlement that will keep him in blunts (until it runs out).

This should be fun to watch. I hope they don’t cave to this parasite who’s trying to rewrite recent history. Some of us still have our unaltered memory, Dorian.

I was brought into a precinct in NJ on suspicion of DWI. I was harassed and ridiculed, stuck in a cell for an hour or so because they were so sure I was so far above the limit, it wouldn’t matter.
I had one beer (for the first time in my life, lol) at a bar while on a sales trip.
They gave me the test, I blew a 0, they took me back to my car cursing about how I was probably on drugs.
No lawsuit occurred.

There’s little doubt that Dorian Johnson needs the $25K for Prozac and/or other drugs for his ailment. LOL
