Novi, Michigan(CNN)Gov. Scott Walker on Monday sought to use President Barack Obama's slipping popularity on foreign policy issues as a punching bag and sought to bolster his own credentials ahead of a likely presidential bid.

Speaking in Novi, Michigan, the Wisconsin Republican rallied around the plight of a Michigan man who has been held hostage in Iran since 2011 and blasted Obama for failing to do enough on the missing man's behalf--as well as failing to ward off attacks by Islamic terrorists around the world.

“The debate over the role of Congress in international negotiations with Iran about nuclear development is entering another week.

Hopes to get the legislation spearheaded by Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker, R-Tenn., through the Senate quickly were thwarted Thursday when talks about setting up a series of amendment votes went off course when Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., came to the floor and offered a pair of amendments, including one by Sen. Marco Rubio that would require certification of Iran recognizing Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.

That would be a tough vote, since there’s broad support for Israel, but attempting to compel President Barack Obama to make that a point in negotiations would be all but sure to restore a veto threat. Corker predicted that after the events on the floor Thursday, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would end up filing cloture to limit debate on the measure, precluding the offering of further amendments......”

“......On national security, Walker went into full attack mode against President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is far and away the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination. He said he was “disturbed” that Clinton spent four years as Obama’s closest advisor on foreign policy matters.

“We need a president for this country who will look the American people in the eye and have the courage to tell them the truth,” Walker boomed. “It could be a day, a week, a month or a year, but we know it’s not a question of if there will be another attempt on American soil, it’s question of when there will be another attempt on American soil…and I’d rather take the fight to them than let them bring the fight to us.”

Walker and Obama have openly warred on national security. The president has bristled at Walker’s criticisms, telling him he needs to “bone-up on foreign policy.” On Monday night, Walker took shot after shot at Obama.

“Now more than ever America needs a commander-in-chief that will stand up and declare radical Islam is a threat to us all,” he said to a standing ovation. “We need a president who identified for once and for all that Israel is an ally and actually starts acting like it.”........

What do you do when, (as you put it):

“We need a president for this country who will look the American people in the eye and have the courage to tell them the truth,”

...and the majority of the people do not want to know the truth? Then, where are we? We elect imbeciles like the current dunce in the WH...

A leader leads. The “ American people” is another term for “public opinion”. Opinions change with the weather.
