Soviet-Nazi Collaboration and World War II

As May 9th, Victory Day in many post-Soviet states, approaches, decency demands that we celebrate the defeat of Adolf Hitler’s Germany and honor the millions of soldiers and civilians who gave their lives to rid the world of the scourge of Nazism.

At the same time, if we truly want to honor the dead, we must take heed of the historical lies that the Kremlin, both in its Soviet and post-Soviet hypostases, promotes about the USSR’s relationship with Nazi Germany.

For starters, the Moscow-controlled Communist International, and its sidekick, the Communist Party of Germany, made Hitler’s rise to power possible, if not indeed inevitable, by tarring the German Social Democrats as “social fascists” who threatened to split the proletariat and were, thus, a greater evil than the Nazis. Had the German left remained united against the real threat—Nazism—Hitler might not have come to power. (Many leftists make a similar mistake today, preferring Vladimir Putin’s fascism to American capitalism and thereby promoting war in Europe.)

Pilsudski’s 1934 non-aggression pact between Poland and Germany, which Poland negotiated against the wishes of France and Britain, did a lot to secure Hitler’s position in Germany, as well as weaken the League of Nations.

Historically true, of course, and thanks for pointing that out.

But now that Putin is pretending he isn't a Soviet, Russia has no problem with labeling every Ukrainian opposed to a NeoSoviet® invasion a "Nazi."

For example: http://rt.com/politics/252317-ukraine-nazi-dolgov-russia/.

The Russians have always been wise to current trends in the West. амерѝка̄нскӣ dupes don't even know what "fascism" is anymore, but everybody hates a Nazi.

Thanks, I’ll check it out even though I’m well aware that the Comintern did whatever the Soviets told them as blindly as the Putinistas do now.

You might want to fly the Russian flag then. Lots of Leftist feel that way, and if you feel your country shames you, you can stand with our enemies.

For several years leading up to WWII, democrats in America held NAZI rallies in such places as Madison Square Garden. They would flock there by the thousands, many wearing NAZI uniforms and NAZI flags were hung with honor inside.

FDR even liked the NAZI brand of socialism vs the communist version.

So, fascism wasn’t defeated will the fall of NAZI Germany, it survives here in the USA in the National Democrat Socialist Workers Party, aka DNC.

Give an example of a denial of history if you can.

A point Pat Buchanan made several years ago in a book is the the Allies did not win the European War theater of WWII because it failed to liberate Poland (whose territories were much larger than today) which was the stated goal of France and England.

However, the story end happily when Ronald Reagan defeated the last Axis power of WWII defeated the Soviet Union.

The Soviet assault on Manchuria on August 9 1945 was agreed to by the Western allies and the Soviets at the Tehran Conference of 1943 and again at the Yalta Conference in Feb. 1945. The Soviets agreed to attach the Japanese in Manchuria within 3 months of the end of the war against the Germans. The Soviets lived up to the agreement. Their attach against the Japanese started exactly 3 months after the Germans surrendered.

Maybe the most crucial thing about dropping the Bomb, it ultimately saved Japan from being divided, like Germany and Korea.

In 1939 the Red Army strength was about 1.8 million men under arms. Late in 1939 the Soviets employed 600,000 men in the war with the Finns. They had the manpower to attack Poland if they wanted to, but the elected to let the Germans take care of the Polish army for them.

Not quite true. The Soviets ended up with the southern half of Sakhalin Island and the entire Kurile Islands chain.

They were kept out of the main islands, however.

Possibly. Whether the Soviets could have launched a major assault on Honshu or Hokkaido is problematic.

Well imagine if Tokyo was divided like Berlin, and the Soviets had all of Hokkaido and Northern Honshu.
