As the gunmen got out of their car with their weapons, one police officer - a tenured traffic cop - shot both men dead, Garland Police officer Joe Harn said at a press conference on Monday. The officer used his service pistol to shoot the men, who were carrying assault weapons.

Pistol v. AR, and the pistol wins in the hands of a "tenured traffic cop". I am more than a little interested in that cop's resume. Did he really learn to shoot under pressure at the local range, or does his past include special forces? I don't want him identified in public, since the thugs would go after his wife and kids, but it seems likely that his training was outside the police academy.

He most likely is one of the 10 to 3 percent of LEOs that are gun guys in any police department. That take their firearms training and shooting seriously.
