Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina launched her Republican presidential bid on Monday's Good Morning America.
The one-time California Senate candidate made her announcement in a sit-down interview with George Stephanopoulos shortly after the ABC morning show's 7 a.m. start time. She also posted an online video about her campaign at roughly the same time.
Fiorina had teased on Twitter that she was stopping by GMA to "discuss some big news."
When Stephanopoulos asked her if she is running for president she replied, "Yes, I am running" and listed her qualifications, saying she "understand[s]" the economy; "how the world works"; "bureaucracies, and that's what our federal government has become, a giant, bloated, unaccountable corrupt bureaucracy; technology and "executive decision-making, which is making a tough call in a tough time with high stakes, for which you're prepared to be held accountable."
Although Fiorina has never held elective office, she became a figure in Republican politics in 2010 when she ran for Senate in California and lost to incumbent Barbara Boxer.
She framed herself as an outsider at a time in which voters, she says, are "tired of the political class," arguing that her presidency would mark a return to "citizen government."

No, Carly. You ruined Lucent and almost killed off HP. We don’t need you running the country. GO AWAY.
I’d like her to lay some shots into Hillary before she goes away.......
True dat.
This is getting ridiculous. There’s going to be 20 people running for the nomination.
Nothing wrong with that. I’m encouraged to see some participation.
I don’t understand the hype over this harridan.
She’s a female. Big deal. Haven’t we been decrying identity politics since the Ultimate Affirmative Action Hire arrived on the scene? And every time we see a ‘Ready For Hillary’ sticker?
She attacks Hillary. Which is nice, but only prompts the question why isn’t every Republican and person with an IQ above room temperature doing the same?
Her campaign to date (it certainly didn’t start today) has been cynical in the extreme. One or two PR items issued as ‘exclusives’ to one or two media outlets per day, apparently to build up her credentials. But anyone who’s paid attention to her, like you and me, knows what she’s about i.e. self-promotion and wants no part of her.
The GOP have an advantage in that they aren’t a machine like the Dems, scaring off any challenges to the chosen candidate but the field is too crowded with no-hopers who are simply riding the PR train for rubber chicken speeches and FNC segments after the election.
I think we are seeing a team effort here. I don’t think ANYONE, including her, thinks she has a chance. Same with Ben Carson. But as members of a coordinated effort she is the answer to Hillary, and Ben is the answer to “black guy”.
I can see this working very much to the republican party’s favor if played right.
There are billions (with a ‘b’) of dollars of campaign money out there. Candidates can pay themselves and their friend/relatives salaries and expenses. It’s the new televangelism.
Id like her to lay some shots into Hillary before she goes away...
It’s becoming like a pro-sports team of “presidential candidates”, where each player has a particular position to play.
Interesting analogy...you may be onto something.
And they aren't as old.
I think she’s running for VP more than anything.
She’s the official Hillary criticizer.
If she starts going after the conservatives, we’ll know she’s also a blocker for Bush.
Republicans announce on Monday , Democrats announce on Friday dump
No thanks. Cruz or nobody. Walker has lost my interest over the last couple months.
“Theres going to be 20 people running for the nomination.”
It’ll be fine as long as they show respect for each other as they debate their ideas, and that they support whoever is the winner of the primary contest.
The fact that she announced on that show tells you everything.
Vanity candidate whose sole purpose is to siphon off voters from real conservatives.
