AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has asked the state guard to monitor a U.S. military training exercise dubbed "Jade Helm 15" amid some residents' suspicions of the U.S. government's plan.

Abbott's request Tuesday comes after some residents in Bastrop County questioned a U.S. Army commander during a town meeting about whether the government was planning to confiscate guns or implement martial law.

In South Carolina the State Guard is a volunteer organization. Most of its members are veterans or retired military.

Main mission: hurricane & disaster relief.

“There was some talk on the local Austin station....about military personnel asking residents if they own guns.”

Meaning armed soldiers knocking on doors & demanding “Are there any guns in this house?”

That’s scary blue helmet army of occupation stuff! This needs to be substantiated. Sounds like the hurricane Katrina aftermath.

I don’t think it is intended to be that overt. Here is a podcast from our local station where I heard what I posted. If you move the slider to 18:00 or so you’ll hear the part about them asking civilians questions. Just prior to that is an interview with Judge Paul Pape of Bastrop County.

I have not done any other research to substantiate, as you say, the part about what kind of questions will be asked. The officials seem to be in fear calming mode, so I don’t know how much actual information we’ll get from them. We certainly are entitled to know. I am wary, but not alarmed at this point. Just watching.

Thanks...didn’t realize there was a difference. I don’t think KY has anything like this active (not since the Civil War at least). Which is surprising and eye opening.

My wife is an official Kentucky Colonel, but other than that you are correct, Kentucky does not maintain a State Defense Force. You may be surprised to see which neighboring states do have a State Defense force, see:

That sounds fabricated.

Check #55 above. It gives a little info on the process.

Thanks for the heads up. I missed that post. It is similar to what I have been hearing in official statements that have come out since people started to become uneasy. The troops will stay on private property. Got it. Rumors say otherwise, but Ok. Officials have said it so it must be so. Hopefully, there is no more to the story than that, but if there was, we’d likely not hear it from any mainstream media source - maybe not even local ones.

It is not alarming at this point, but it is worth watching. We’d be fools to trust Obama. We are not fools.

Not sure where that came from. The excerpt I posted indicated that all
training would take place on private property. My guess is troops on off duty
time may be seen around the town or other locales.
