May 2, 2015: NRO - Wesley J. Smith: Will the Pope Declare That Nature Has Rights?

"An article in Commonweal hopes Pope Francis will declare that nature has “rights.”

The nature-rights movement is real and extremely subversive to human freedom and thriving.

Most people think such a thing can never happen. But it already is happening. Bolivia and Ecuador have legalized the rights of nature, as have more than 30 U.S. cities, including Santa Monica. Moreover, the Secretary General of the U.N., Ban-ki Moon has declared his support.

For a more detailed discussion, head over to Human Exceptionalism.

I hope the article is wrong. The pope’s declaring that nature has “rights” would, I believe, cause a great schism, because it would shatter the RCC’s intense focus on the unique dignity of man."

This is like the left trying to blame Baltimore riots on Republicans.

Eisenhower’s VP did win the the election according to many. Chicago/Illinois criminal Democrat Party system helped overthrew that result. Otherwise known as a Coup d’état.

It’s the reason the left has such a huge foothold.

Willing to do what most Americans won’t to seize power. But that is slowly changing. People are starting to realize that to beat the left, you literally have to “beat” the left. Turn about is fair play, and the left should receive it 100x over.

Bush fighting to win in 2000, was a big deal.

It changed America, and who we are, today 15 years later.

The carefully hidden truth is that the "Anti-Vietnam War Peace Movement" was invented, guided and controlled by American Marxists in coordination with Moscow and Hanoi from Day 1. It wasn't an "antwar" movement: it was a pro-enemy movement that built up its numbers from know-it-alls who were afraid of military service for themselves of their relatives.

When Nixon killed the draft, the Movement lost most of its members but by then we had Leftists in Congress.

Bush a fighter? The silence from GWB is deafening. We need men like him speaking up. Almost makes me upset I voted for him.

And the “antiwar” movement felt like a pro enemy movement as we were walking through it. I was 13 in 1968, the point that antiwar reach a higher level of recognition, I recall thinking who’s side are these people on.

The author of this stupid article claims that he "never saw demonstrators carrying the enemy flag". Really? I never saw an "antiwar" demonstration without VC and NVA flags or their chants of "Ho, Ho, Ho Chi Minh, the NLF is going to win".

I am a combat veteran of the Vietnam War - can you imagine how a veteran of WW II would have felt to come home and see US citizens carrying Jap or Nazi flags and chanting support to the enemy?

The liberal Left will do its best to lie about that piece of history but I lived through it and I remember everything.

Interesting that Ted Kennedy led the effort to cutoff support to South Vietnam since his brother STARTED the war. Utter hypocrisy but then again this was a man who thought he not only walked on water, but could DRIVE on water.

Peter Birkenstock is one angry leftie. Sees a vet wearing a Vietnam vet cap and screams “Babykiller!!!”

I hope I’m the one he screams at. Haven’t thrown a punch in quite a while.

Uh, no.

Peter Birkenhead is an unrepentant Communist apologist and stooge who supports and is complicit in their acts of mass murder, barbarism, and savagery...

The real lesson that the GOP failed to learn in Vietnam was that limited, COIN war was and is a recipe for complete failure.

The likes of McCain, Bolton and Graham -still- haven't figured it out.
