If not, then they should go free.
Let the chips fall where they may. I, for one, don't have some kind of prejudicial investment in the outcome of this case.
I think it's very likely there was some monkey business involved: the coroner ruled it a homicide, and it seems highly unlikely that the coroner would make that determination arbitrarily; it also seems that, if there were evidence the man tried to injure himself, then the coroner would at least have noted the possibility.
I also suspect that the prosecution must know something more than what we, the public, are aware of. Otherwise, why wouldn't it just be the driver who was charged? Why SIX officers?
In any event, it doesn't matter to me if the guy was drunk, swallowed some drugs, or was under the influence of them.
If the defense can demonstrate that this guy did, or tried to do, intentional harm to himself, they will create reasonable doubt in the jury's mind and these officers will be acquitted.
At which point the riots by the criminals will continue as scheduled.
But, regardless of what happened here, it should be clear to everybody that it wasn't an issue of the victim's race. I'm sure these cops are perfectly capable of severely injuring a white or Hispanic person as well, and just as liable to.
Aside from all that, it's my understanding that probable cause was not present, and, additionally, the knife wasn't illegal. The PD has a problem on their hands no matter how you slice it.

Excuse me, but aren't those mutually exclusive propositions? It sounds like you just might have a "prejudicial investment" against the cops.
According to the interview he was seen making a drug transaction; furthermore, didn't he run?
....”If the defense can demonstrate that this guy did, or tried to do, intentional harm to himself, they will create reasonable doubt in the jury’s mind and these officers will be acquitted”....
Apparently Gray has a history of doing just that when arrested...the officer reports would likely attest to that.
I agree there is much more not being said then is known at this point....the evidence is not layed out yet...and frankly I don’t believe all that the prosecutor presented...I think she left out some interesting facts that would change the equation. Of course her job is to defend Gray so you’d expect so.
From what I've heard, the medical examiner originally ruled the death accidental and then switched to homicide after the report left the police department.
