From what I do know, that knife would be consider in states such as NY and CT to be illegal, but legal in MD.

Was it a ‘gravity blade’ or a ‘switchblade’? One police report said ‘spring assisted switchblade’. But radio reports said folding knife.

Even if so re the knife-— that would mean that after cops finally caught Gray & found the knife, they mistakenly thought it was an illegal weapon.

BUT prior to that-—Mosby said that cops were on bike patrol. They “made eye contact” with Gray. He fled and they pursued on foot to catch him. They caught him.

Cops had 0 probable cause. He wasn’t flashing his knife; he wasn’t threatening cops. Cops didn’t even say they shouted at him to stop. Gray made eye contact with them & he ran.

None of what Gray did constitutes probable cause.

That is a problem from the get-go.
